Positively Hypnobirthing Hypnobirthing Australia™ Course (Childbirth Education) taught by Kate Eakin on the Gold Coast

Hi, I’m Kate and I’m a certified Hypnobirthing Australia™ Practitioner and a Childbirth Educator (HPCE) on the Gold Coast. I’m passionate about teaching the Hypnobirthing Australia™ program because I truly believe that every woman, whether it be your first, third or fourth time giving birth, you have the right to have an amazing, positive birthing experience, which you feel empowered by and the Hypnobirthing Australia™ course offers just this. I can support you and your birth companion as a practitioner as well as being a two times hypnobirthing mum. I had two calm, positive births using hypnobirthing techniques - one of which was in hospital and the other was an amazing, vaginal breech birth delivered unintentionally at home. The ‘hypno’ refers to the use of hypnotherapy in the course and this is a great tool that helps you to release fear and tension and change preconceived, negative thoughts and encourages a positive mindset, self-confidence and awareness. Hypnosis is a process like meditation - you are conscious and awake, although show signs of being emotionally and physically relaxed. Hypnotherapy will create a more calm and relaxed birthing experience, because the tools will help you to focus internally on the task at hand and shut out unwanted disruptions. Join me in combining information, tools and techniques to ensure a physical and mental preparation that is so important for releasing fear and tension and as a result you can achieve your goal of having a calm, positive birthing experience.

Most mums tell me the same thing: “I’m excited to meet my baby… but birth feels scary.” 🥺
And honestly? That’s completely normal. Birth feels scary when no one has ever taught us what’s actually happening in our body, what our options are, or how to stay calm when things get intense.

👉 So here are 3 of the biggest fears around birth and what actually helps.
✅ Because when you understand what’s going on…
✅ When you know how to work with your body…
✅ When your partner knows how to support you…
Everything feels different.

Birth becomes less “I hope I can do this” and more “I know what’s happening, and I’ve got tools to help me through it.” 💪

If this post gave you even one little “ohhh that makes sense” moment, imagine what 2 full days of learning, practising, and preparing could do 🙌

My next Hypnobirthing Australia™ Course:
Sunday 12th & 19th April 8:30am - 4pm
At Hot Yoga Southport
Perfect for mums 20+ weeks pregnant

If you’re ready to step into birth feeling calm, informed, and confident - I’d love to have you in this group.

Such a beautiful example of really trusting the process - your body, your baby, and the support around you. I often get questions in class about the umbilical cord around baby’s neck (so common, about 1 in 3!) and how baby is ok “underwater” when the head is out in a water birth. When we have the knowledge and the right support, it’s so much easier to lean into that trust. Seeing it all unfold so calmly here is just awesome 😍

・・・
Unedited last 2min of water birth from pushing head out to waiting until the next contraction to push rest out, to cord around the neck - to show how long it can be when you go slowly with your body to push baby out. Birth doesn’t need to be rushed. And when working with an incredible provider, even something like a cord around neck can be taken care of in seconds without any rushed/emergency vibes in the room!

Edit: this was my 2nd baby’s birth in case that’s confusing - still very pregnant and gearing up for baby 3’s birth!

Your baby doesn’t just “drop” into the pelvis - they navigate it 💃👍
And each level of the pelvis needs different movements to help create space.

👉At the inlet, hip extension, wide knees and pelvic rocking help baby engage.
👉At the midpelvis, asymmetry helps baby rotate past those “sticky‑outy” bones.
👉At the outlet, internal rotation and reaching up help baby descend and be born.

The pelvis is dynamic... It changes shape, and when you understand how it moves, birth starts to make a lot more sense.

This is the kind of practical, body-based birth prep we explore in the Body Ready Birth Workshop.
You’ll learn how to move with your body, and your partner will learn how to support you through each level 🤝

If you want to feel more confident, more connected, and more prepared for birth, I’d love to have you join me my next workshop.

Mums LOVE this abdominal sifting technique 🧘‍♀️😌… especially in the final weeks. It’s so relaxing, helps release tight muscles, aligns the uterus and creates space for baby to position themselves into a more optimal position✨

And techniques like this aren’t about forcing baby into a ‘perfect’ position… it’s about balance and mobility.

Baby is super smart, and we’re giving baby the best chance of finding the room to do their thing and make their way down through the pelvis.

This lovely couple were doing such a beautiful job in their Refresher Hypnobirthing Australia™ session, as they get ready for their birth. We went through movements, hypnobirthing tools, all the good stuff… and yes, the timing of the song saying ‘come be the man I need’ made me smile because he really WAS that guy 👌💪🤝 And feeling that love and support will absolutely help mum in the lead up to birth and on the day 😍

Feeling so excited for these two as they get closer to meeting their new little love.

If you’re prepping for your next birth, I’d love to support you - whether it’s a private Refresher or the full Hypnobirthing Australia™ course. My next group course is on March 8th & 15th 🥰

Birth isn’t about one position. Your pelvis needs different movements at each stage… when baby reaches the:
- inlet
- Midpelvis
- outlet

Most people don’t realise that baby’s journey through the pelvis changes as labour progresses… and your body can actually help them move through each level.

A little movement knowledge goes a long way in helping labour feel smoother, more intuitive, and more supported.

This is exactly what we practise (with your partner!) in my Body Ready Birth Workshop this Sunday:
1st March
8:30am - 12:30pm
Hot Yoga Southport
on the Gold Coast

Places still available. Come and join. Love to support you and your birth partner and get you both feeling confident and ready for birth 🤗

Love seeing memes like this because they make me giggle 😆… but they’re also totally spot on 👌

Low tones 😮‍💨 help your pelvic floor relax and lengthen. High sounds (yep, including the scream‑y ones 😱) tend to make those muscles tighten up. Your diaphragm and pelvic floor are connected, so your voice really does matter.

It’s all about working with your body, not against it 💪

・・・
Sometimes it’s like that. Follow me for more birth tips 🤣

I always tell my clients this:
you do not have to censor yourself in labor.
You don’t have to be quiet, polished, or composed to be doing it “right.”

Labor is intense. It’s physical. It’s deeply raw.
You have permission to say whatever you need to say to get through it.

The one suggestion I do make is this:
keep it low and keep your jaw relaxed.

A relaxed jaw is connected to a relaxed pelvic floor.
Low tones help keep your nervous system out of panic and in your body, which supports labor progress.
It’s about working with your body, not against it.

If you want more practical tips for supporting physiology and understanding how to actually get through labor (beyond cussing 🤣), comment DOULA and I’ll let you in on all the details! 🤍

Love hearing from couples after their birth and seeing how much the tools, knowledge, and mindset work supported them through the intensity of birth and helped them navigate their journey 😍

Messages from my Positively Hypnobirthing mums, like this, absolutely makes my day:
“We just had our baby boy this morning at 1am… The birth was fast and everything I wanted it to be and also the hardest thing I’ve ever done. I can’t even imagine how I would have done that without the tools and knowledge from the course. Can’t thank you enough 💌”

She and her partner navigated their journey with so much strength, trust, and calm - and I’m just so happy for them.
Supporting couples through the Hypnobirthing Australia™ course and my Body Ready Birth workshop and seeing them step into birth feeling prepared and empowered… it’s honestly the best part of what I do.

If you’re wanting to feel the same confidence heading into your birth, my next group Hypnobirthing Australia™ course is March 8th & 15th, and Body Ready Birth workshop is March 1st, still places available. Click the link in my bio or send me a DM and I’ll send you all the info.

✨ Birth is sacred. Midwifery is so important, but our system is struggling 😔
This student midwife speaks with such heart - loving the work, but feeling the weight of rising inductions, c-sections, and the conveyor belt hospital system.

Midwives are meant to be ‘with’ women. To protect physiological birth. To hold space. But the system isn’t supporting them, and it’s costing us all.

Sharing this 🎥 .fromabridge because it’s true. And it matters. We can’t create change until we see what’s happening around us.

Let’s listen. Let’s advocate. Let’s do better… for birthing women and for midwives 💕

Busting a common myth here: You don’t have to be quiet to hypnobirth. You can hum, moan, groan, roar your baby out - or be silent if that’s what feels right for you.

But here’s the physiology behind it:
👉Low tones help your pelvic floor relax and lengthen
👉High tones tend to tighten those muscles
👉Your diaphragm and pelvic floor are connected - so your voice really does matter
👉Your jaw mirrors your pelvis - tension in one often means tension in the other

So if you’re preparing for birth, try this:
✨ Breathe down to your baby
✨ Make low sounds like HAAA, OHMM or HUUMM
✨ Keep your jaw soft and relaxed

Let your voice support your body. Let your body lead the way.

And if you want to learn more about the physiology of birth and learn techniques that actually work, come join my final Hypnobirthing Australia™ group course for the year - Dec 7 & 14 on the Gold Coast

I love this 🎥 by ❤️ Birth with family present = equal parts support team + comedy show 😂 But it’s the bloopers, the real life stuff, that makes it unforgettable and special 🥰

This is for the mum’s I know who are preparing for their second birth and will have their own real life going on as they birth 💕

Our Story

Hi, I’m Kate and I’m a certified Hypnobirthing Australia™ Practitioner and a Childbirth Educator (HPCE) in the North Gold Coast region.

I had two calm, positive births using hypnobirthing techniques - one of which was a birth in hospital and the other was an unassisted, accidental, breech, home birth. Hypnobirthing was the reason my husband and I were able to make the decisions that were right for us and also cope with the pressure of the special circumstances in the lead up to the birth of my son. Since then I have been inspired to educate and support other couples so they too can be informed and understand their rights as birthing parents to have a wonderful birth experience with no regrets. Click here to view my birth story. The ‘hypno’ in hypnobirthing refers to the use of hypnotherapy in the course and this is a great tool that helps you to release fear and tension and change preconceived, negative thoughts and encourages a positive mindset, self-confidence and awareness. Hypnosis sounds a bit ‘woo woo’ ; ) but it’s just a process like meditation or deep relaxation - you are conscious and awake, although show signs of being emotionally and physically relaxed. Hypnotherapy will create a more calm and relaxed birthing experience, because the tools will help you to focus internally on the task at hand and shut out unwanted disruptions. So come and join me in combining information, tools and techniques to ensure a physical and mental preparation that is so important for releasing fear and tension and as a result you can achieve your goal of having a calm, positive birthing experience. You won’t regret it! Head over to my website www.positivelyhypnobirthing.com.au and checkout course dates that will suit you and let’s get you started on this amazing journey.
