Love seeing memes like this because they make me giggle 😆… but they’re also totally spot on 👌
Low tones 😮💨 help your pelvic floor relax and lengthen. High sounds (yep, including the scream‑y ones 😱) tend to make those muscles tighten up. Your diaphragm and pelvic floor are connected, so your voice really does matter.
It’s all about working with your body, not against it 💪

Sometimes it’s like that. Follow me for more birth tips 🤣
I always tell my clients this:
you do not have to censor yourself in labor.
You don’t have to be quiet, polished, or composed to be doing it “right.”
Labor is intense. It’s physical. It’s deeply raw.
You have permission to say whatever you need to say to get through it.
The one suggestion I do make is this:
keep it low and keep your jaw relaxed.
A relaxed jaw is connected to a relaxed pelvic floor.
Low tones help keep your nervous system out of panic and in your body, which supports labor progress.
It’s about working with your body, not against it.
If you want more practical tips for supporting physiology and understanding how to actually get through labor (beyond cussing 🤣), comment DOULA and I’ll let you in on all the details! 🤍
