This January, girls made up a whopping 63.6% of births at John Flynn Private Maternity! Our biggest baby was 4290g, while our smallest was 2290g. We also welcomed one set of healthy twins to the world.

At John Flynn Private Maternity, we encourage partners to attend antenatal & postnatal appointments to help create a strong foundation for confident, connected parenting.

These appointments are not just about clinical check-ins, they are opportunities to learn, ask questions, and understand the journey of pregnancy, birth & early parenthood together.

When partners are involved, they gain insight into what to expect and how to offer meaningful support. It builds shared understanding, eases anxieties & ensures important information is heard and remembered by more than one person.

Postnatally, partner attendance becomes just as valuable. From feeding guidance to emotional wellbeing and recovery, being present allows partners to actively support healing, bonding & adjustments at home.

Inclusion from the beginning reinforces that parenting is a shared experience, strengthening relationships, confidence & care for the whole family.

High tea with a view ☕🌊

Delicious treats, tea, juice and coffee all enjoyed with an endless ocean view stretching to Coolangatta. From our Maternity Terrace, breathe in the sea air, soak up the beautiful light, watch the sunrise and take a moment to pause.

Sometimes the simplest pleasures are the most unforgettable.

Our maternity patients can enjoy high tea Monday–Thursday, and on Friday afternoons, partners are invited to mingle and celebrate with our partners’ bar — the perfect way to mark the arrival of your baby.

Our next Breastfeeding Class at John Flynn Private Hospital will be held Thursday 12th February, 6–8pm (QLD time) 💕

Learn what to expect, normal newborn behaviour, how to breastfeed, how often, how you can be supported, and how to avoid and treat common breastfeeding issues such as mastitis and blocked ducts.

💲 Cost: $25 per person/couple (partners welcome)
