PMS and PMDD are often confused, but theyâre not the same. So let's take a look at the difference between the two...
𩸠PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) affects around 20â30% of people who menstruate. It can bring symptoms like:
⢠Mood swings
⢠Bloating
⢠Breast tenderness
⢠Food cravings
⢠Irritability
Itâs uncomfortable, but usually manageable, and most people can still function day to day.
đŞď¸ PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) affects about 3â9% and is much more intense. Symptoms can include:
⢠Severe mood swings
⢠Depression or hopelessness
⢠Rage or sudden anger
⢠Feeling out of control
⢠Anxiety or panic attacks
⢠Trouble sleeping
⢠Overwhelming fatigue
⢠Suicidal thoughts in some cases
Itâs not âjust bad PMS.â It can seriously impact your work, relationships, and quality of life.
PMDD is influenced by brain chemistry, genetics, stress levels, inflammation, and how your body responds to hormonal shifts đ§
If your symptoms feel bigger than what youâve been told is ânormal,â please know youâre not overreacting, and it is worth the investigation.
Save this to revisit later and tag someone who might need this reminder too â¨

Infertility is often talked about through the female lens, but we know it affects men too.
Whether youâre going through tests, supporting your partner, or just trying to stay steady in the chaos, this part of the journey can feel overwhelming and isolating.
đ You might not always say much.
đ You might not know how to say it.
đ You might feel pressure to hold it all together.
A recent study found that men with male factor infertility report higher levels of depression, anxiety, and psychological distress, as well as lower self-esteem and a poorer quality of life in some areas, compared to those without.
So if youâre feeling it⌠youâre not alone. And youâre not âtoo sensitive.â Itâs human. Itâs valid.

Want to know something thatâs been proven to support fertility and doesnât cost a thing? (and yes, I include this in all my treatment plans as a fertility naturopath)
Regular movement đđźââď¸ââĄď¸
Research shows that moderate to high levels of physical activity are linked with improved fertility outcomes in both men and women.
That means things like walking, cycling, dancing, or light jogging could all be helpful additions to your fertility routine.
But remember, more isn't always better. Too much intense exercise (especially without enough rest or fuel) can actually have the opposite effect, so itâs all about balance.
It's important to find the right balance for you. Fertility isn't always about supplements and intense protocols - remember to move your body in a way that suits you đ
PMS and PMDD are so much more than just âhormones.â
Theyâre complex conditions with many different factors working together, kind of like pieces of a puzzle.
𧊠Your hormones rise and fall during your cycle
𧊠This affects brain chemicals that impact your mood
𧊠Your genes influence how sensitive you are to these shifts
𧊠Stress and past experiences can worsen symptoms
𧊠Your stress response system (HPA axis) can get out of balance
𧊠Inflammation in your body might be adding fuel to the fire
Every personâs puzzle looks a little different, and thatâs why no two PMS or PMDD experiences are the same.
If youâve ever felt like no one gets how intense it can be, youâre not imagining it, and youâre not alone.
Save this if youâve ever felt dismissed when talking about PMS or PMDD âď¸

Ever feel like youâre carrying the emotional weight for everyone on this journey?
â
When youâre TTC, figuring out what to share and who to share it with can feel like a cycle of emotional whiplash.
â
As a fertility naturopath, I hear this often:
âI shared every step with my family and friends in the beginning⌠the excitement, the possibilities. But now itâs dragging on, and the questions, the comments, theyâre too much. I feel like Iâm managing their emotions as well as mine.â
â
My personal tip? Have someone in your corner, at least one person you can lean on, be raw with, and feel safe around. This journey is lonely without that kind of support.
â
And if youâre going to share, be proactive and clear. Try something like:
â
âI want to share this journey with you, but itâs hard. Some days I want to talk through the heartbreak and the details. Other days I just want to watch a silly chick flick and pretend this isnât happening. I know you care, and I appreciate that, but Iâll let you know when I feel ready to talk.â
â
Youâre allowed to protect your peace. Youâre allowed to hold your story close. And youâre allowed to share it on your terms đŤśđź

đżThe healing powers of nature really shine through in herbal medicine.
As a naturopath, I have hundreds of herbs to use, each with their own unique properties.
And a herbal medicine formulation is created individually, for that specific persons needs, at that stage of their health & life.
To help the body back into alignment.
â¨A bottle of natures wisdomâ¨
(note- when considering herbal medicine it always must be done with someone who is qualified & experienced in herbal medicine, with absolute top care in considering the person, their health conditions, and any potential contraindications such as fertility treatments or medications. There are many times herbal medicine or specific herbs are NOT appropriate & should be avoided)

Wishing them both well for this new chapter in life with their little boyâ¨

PCOS isnât just about hormones.
Itâs about you, your whole body, your whole self.
Yes, PCOS can affect your cycles, ovulation, and hormone levels, but its impact often goes far beyond that.
Research shows that people with PCOS are more likely to experience anxiety and depression, a reality thatâs often overlooked or dismissed. And when your body is going through unwanted changes, itâs only natural for that to affect how you feel, both emotionally and mentally.
đ Your mental health matters, and itâs valid.
Thereâs also growing evidence pointing to something deeper:
đ§ Inflammation in the brain.
Chronic, low-grade inflammation â common in PCOS â may influence how your brain functions, including the delicate balance of mood-regulating neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine.
This is one of the many reasons Iâm so passionate about a naturopathic approach. Because instead of just treating symptoms, we take a step back and look at the full picture.
From hormones to gut health, nervous system support to emotional wellbeing, itâs all connected. And it all matters.
⨠If youâve been feeling low, foggy, or just not like yourself, please know youâre not alone.
It might be time for a different kind of support. If youâre curious what that could look like, feel free to reach out.
Not every day has to be productive.
Not every moment has to be positive.
Not every decision has to be perfect.
Healing, whether itâs your hormones, your cycle, your relationship with food, your fertility, or your nervous system, is not linear.
Some days youâll feel strong, motivated, and full of energy. Other days, just getting out of bed is a win.
đ¸ Both days count.
đ¸ Both days are part of the process.
This is your reminder:
⨠You donât have to hustle your way to healing.
⨠You donât have to âfixâ yourself to be worthy of rest, love, or softness.
⨠Youâre allowed to go slow.
đ Be gentle with yourself today.

This Thyroid Awareness Month, weâre highlighting a crucial connection many overlook: thyroid health and fertility, a common reason for unexplained infertility. â
â
Thyroid hormone receptors are found within the ovaries, eggs (oocytes) and endometrium, so can impact all these areas.â
â
Thyroid hormones:â
- maintain the follicle growing and egg maturationâ
- support endometrial receptivity & implantationâ
- regulate menstrual cycleâ
- maintain a healthy pregnancyâ
â
Even mild imbalancesâespecially elevated thyroid antibodies or a TSH between 2.5â4.0â have the potential to impact your ability to conceive, affect early pregnancy, or leave you feeling constantly exhausted, foggy, and not quite yourself.â
â
The ranges used for the general population arenât always ideal for preconception and early pregnancy which is why itâs crucial to have a practitioner who understands thyroid & fertility. â
â
Many people fall into the âsubclinicalâ zoneâwhere symptoms are real, but testing is brushed off as ânormal.â simply because only TSH has been tested. â
â
If this sounds familiar, itâs worth further investigation. A full thyroid panel (including antibodies) and functional range interpretation could be the missing piece in your fertility journey.â
â
Book in for a consultation to explore your thyroid health through a fertility lens. â
â
Iâll help you cut through the confusion and take targeted action based on your unique picture.â
