It’s a day for spots. Yayoi Kusama’s spots to be exact.

My muse for the therapy spot. I’ve loved her work for years, it’s joyful bright and full of meaning. She has struggled with her mental health for decades and still creates art and moments that make the world stop and wonder.

This year she has a huge exhibit in Melbourne at the NGV so if you are there or visiting - definitely go. Take some time to see the world a little differently🌿

10 or so years ago on my first visit to Japan I went to the Ghibli museum.

It was a day of wonder, magic and fun. But there was one room that I was little sad about. It was life sized cat bus full of soot gremlins (if you know you know) and only kids under 10 could go in. I watched my daughter leap towards with joy, patting the cat, walking inside. I was happy for her but sad I wasn’t little anymore and could join in. The cat bus is one of my favourite characters.

And last year on my last trip to Japan we went to the new Ghibli park and oh my goodness - look what I found! I exclaimed with joy and others laughed. I was so excited!

Dreams can come true, sometimes it just takes awhile for them to happen ✨

Makes me think it doesn’t matter what your dream is, whether it’s to walk the Great Wall of China, own your own home, find love or just get inside the cat bus. Anything is possible!

You just never know when the world will surprise you.

With love,

Rachael

I was chatting in session yesterday about telling the truth.

My client often told white lies (like multiple) in order to make those around her feel better - about where they were going, what they were doing and what they were thinking. Over the years it has got to the point where it happens many many times a day.

What started as a kindness to make others feel comfortable, led to feelings of stress, anxiety and ultimately distance from those who loved her. As she had to pretend to be someone she was not.

I challenged them to tell the truth. To be their authentic selves. They looked at me … can I really do that?

Yes

Yes you can.

I watched their shoulders relax, and once over the shock, they started to smile.

It’s time, be yourself.

Well hello 2025

And hello to everyone who has faithfully stayed with me over the months of absence.

It’s Chinese New year and I have celebrated it for many years now and to me, it is the start of the new year so it seems a good time to start talking again.

I was first introduced to it by a Buddhist colleague who took me to her temple and I was struck by the calm monks, the sense of community and the noise of the dragons, fireworks and people.

There is something magical about it - they ring bells and make loud noises to scare the bad luck away from the past year and then you have let the luck settle the next day - no tidying up, just a day of peace and calm.

A different way to live, a different way to herald in the new year. I like it.

2024 has not been my favourite year. Many, many changes and unfortunately several injuries which took substantial recovery time.

I also got COVID for the first time in January which was good and bad. Good as I now have a chance to build immunity. Bad as it took me out for three weeks. Good as it is reflective that I am out in the world (I spent a long time avoiding catching covid successfully but it meant my life was often narrow and restricted)

Onwards. Time to get up again and progress forward and build that rich, full and meaningful life.

It’s okay to fall down, as long as you get back up again.

Fall down 7 times, get up 8
