💛 Meet Jaz – one of our much-loved Paediatric Occupational Therapists 💛

This gorgeous moment captures what Jaz does best ✨ connecting with kids, building trust, and completing thorough paediatric OT assessments in a way that feels fun, safe and supportive.

Based in our Gold Coast clinic, Jaz is known for her warm approach, clinical expertise, and ability to help children feel completely at ease while assessing skills such as regulation, motor development, sensory processing and functional participation.

Fun fact! That always busy feeling could actually be your brain’s way of avoiding emotions. 🤔

For many, keeping busy acts as a coping mechanism, a way to avoid facing difficult emotions or past experiences. When we don’t slow down, we don’t give ourselves the chance to truly acknowledge the pain, grief, or fears we may be carrying. It’s a fear based distraction, a shield against the emotional work that we might be avoiding.

What type of support can I receive at a Medicare Mental Health Centre?

Medicare Mental Health Centres offer:
- immediate help and follow-up for people who are in distress
- support for people with mental health concerns
- support for carers and families of people experiencing mental health distress
- help connecting people with other services to support them in the future, from health to mental health, and social supports like housing and employment.

Whether you have experienced mental health challenges in the past or this is your first time reaching out for support, everyone is welcome.

No appointment or referral is needed, you can access services with or without a Medicare card, and you don’t need to be an Australian citizen to access support.

To find a Medicare Mental Health Centre near you, visit www.medicarementalhealth.gov.au/centres

Not near a Centre? Call Medicare Mental Health on 1800 595 212 (8:30am to 5pm weekdays) for free mental health and wellbeing support.
