This week, some of our Brisbane and Gold Coast speech pathologists attended a cervical auscultation workshop with the knowledgeable Dr Julie Cichero (BA, BSpThy(Hons), PhD). The insights gained will help our clinicians provide the most up-to-date, evidence-based care for clients with swallowing difficulties.

Dysphagia is the medical term for difficulty swallowing liquids or solids. When this occurs, a speech pathologist conducts an assessment to diagnose the issue and recommend strategies to support safe eating and drinking. A stethoscope is often used during the assessment to add an important auditory element to the evaluation.
