On Saturday 23rd August 2014 at 11am whilst travelling from Wollongong to Queensland for a short family holiday, Anne-Maree and her husband Bronson and their family had a tragic car accident on the Pacific Highway at Woodburn, just south of Ballina NSW. Bronson was killed instantly and Anne-Maree was flown from the scene to Gold Coast University Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery to save her life. The three children, Lachlan 14yo, Amelia 4yo and Remington 2yo, suffered minor broken bones and cuts and bruises and were treated at Lismore Base Hospital. Lachlan underwent emergency surgery to repair his broken arm. Anne-Maree spent the next five weeks undergoing numerous surgeries at the Gold Coast University Hospital and later at Brisbane Hospital. She spent these five weeks in the Intensive Care Unit sedated and tubed. On 1st October 2014, Anne-Maree was flown to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, which is where she has been since. Here, Anne-Maree will spend the next few months, up until around March 2015 undergoing intensive rehabilitation. Anne-Maree has had numerous surgeries to repair a hole in her diaphragm, lung injuries, laceration to her liver, head wounds, broken nose and facial injuries, broken right ulna and radius (arm), broken left humerus (arm), broken right femur (leg), broken foot bones, she has numerous rods and pins & plates in her body. And broken spine which has also made her to become a paraplegic. Anne-Maree is now learning to care for herself and learning how to use a wheelchair. One day in the near future, Anne-Maree will gain her independence and be able to move around with the assistance of a wheelchair and the support of her family and friends. I hope that this Face Book page allows her family and friends to see how well Anne-Maree and her children have progressed since experiencing such a tragedy. Please keep sharing Anne-Maree's Go Fund Me page to keep donation coming in to support Anne-Maree in her fight for survival.
