This caption is ridiculously long but I started writing out our story and couldn’t stop! 🥹 It's quite emotional looking back....
Ten years ago, there was no showroom. No wall of dream hair. No HQ. No team. Just me. A spare room. And an obsession with hair that honestly bordered on unhealthy (but in a productive way).
If you had told me back then that one day we would be creating world-class human hair wigs, handcrafted right here in our own HQ, helping thousands of women feel like themselves again… I would have laughed…, and agreed.
This was always the goal, and still is. Continuing to grow and learn is my second obsession to hair. This is the story of how we came to be.
⸻It Started With Hair (Obviously)
Some people collect shoes. Some people collect handbags. I collected hair. From as young as I can remember, I was obsessed with the way hair made me feel so powerful.Hair isn’t “just hair.”It’s identity. It’s armour. It’s expression. It’s control when everything else feels chaotic.I saw firsthand how transformative hair could be. How a woman could walk into a room unsure… and walk out standing taller, shoulders back, smiling differently. That shift? That’s magic. And I wanted to be part of that magic.
⸻The Spare Room Era
Ten years ago, Lace Fronts Australia was born in my spare room.No fancy fit-out. No viral marketing strategy. Just passion, stubbornness- lots of stubbornness lol and a whole lot of wigs stacked in plastic tubs.I started at markets with synthetic wigs. I would pack them up, set up my little stall, and talk to anyone who would listen. I didn’t just want to sell wigs. I wanted to educate. To demystify. To say, “You don’t need a degree to wear one.”Those early market days were humbling. Some people would walk straight past. Some would whisper. Some would lean in and ask quiet questions. And then there were the women who needed them.Women experiencing hair loss.Women going through medical treatment.Women who just wanted to feel beautiful again.Women who were tired of fighting their own reflection.Every time someone tried one on and their eyes changed — that was it. That was the hook. I was done for. This wasn’t just a side hustle. It was something bigger.
⸻The Tiny Space That Changed Everything
After the spare room and the markets came our first tiny space. And when I say tiny, I mean tiny.Six months. That’s how long we were there. It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t polished. But it was ours. It meant we were real. Women could walk in. Sit down. Try on wigs without entering a shipping container or my spare room. That tiny shop was the first time I saw the future. It was the first time I realised this wasn’t a hobby. It wasn’t a cute little business idea. It was needed. And it was growing.Six months later, we moved again. And this time… it felt different.
⸻Lace Fronts Australia HQ
We’ve now been in our HQ for six years.Six years of consults, tears, laughter, fittings, custom creations, colour matching, late nights, early mornings, and more hair than I could have ever imagined.Walking into HQ still feels surreal sometimes. This isn’t just a shop. It’s a safe space. It’s where women come when they’re at their most vulnerable. It’s where they come when they’re reinventing themselves. It’s where they come when they’re celebrating, healing, grieving or starting over. It’s where we create.Right here at HQ, we craft our human hair wigs. Not outsourced in some faceless warehouse. Not churned out without care. But built intentionally. Designed thoughtfully. Created with real women in mind.Over time, what started with synthetic market stalls has evolved into industry-leading, world-class human hair wigs. And I say that not with ego — but with pride.Because it didn’t happen by accident. It happened because we refused to cut corners.Because we listened.Because we learned.Because we obsessed (still obsessed, honestly).
⸻From the Markets to World-Class Wigs
Synthetic wigs were our beginning. They taught us everything. As we grew, so did our standards. We began developing and refining our human hair collection. Lace fronts that sit seamlessly. Caps that sit flatter. Density that feels natural. Hairlines that don’t scream “wig.”We wanted to create pieces that didn’t just look beautiful on a mannequin — but looked effortless in everyday life.School drop-offs.Boardrooms.Date nights.Hospital visits.Beach walks.Real life.Today, we make wigs that are worn across Australia and beyond. Pieces that compete globally. Pieces that stand proudly in the industry. And yet… the heart behind them hasn’t changed. It’s still about how you feel when you put it on.
⸻The Women Who Built This With Us
We may have started in a spare room — but this business was built by the women who walked through our doors.Thousands of women.Every story different. Every journey unique. The first-time wig wearer who whispered, “I’m so nervous.”The long-time wearer who said, “I’ve never found one that feels like me.”The woman who had lost her hair and didn’t recognise herself anymore. The woman who just wanted long blonde hair without frying her own.I have watched women cry tears of grief. And tears of joy.Sometimes in the same appointment.I have seen posture change.Energy shift.Confidence return. There is something sacred about being trusted in those moments. And we don’t take that lightly.
⸻The Funny, Messy, Real Bits
Let’s be clear — it hasn’t all been glamorous hair flips and empowerment speeches. There have been moments of doubt. Financial stress. Sleepless nights wondering if we were crazy to keep expanding. There have been wigs that didn’t turn out the way we wanted. Launches that didn’t explode the way we hoped. Weeks where sales felt slow and the fear crept in.Running a business while running a life is no joke. But here’s the thing: when you build something from your spare room floor, you develop grit. You remember the days you prayed for the problems you now have.Growth is uncomfortable. Expansion is messy. Evolution requires letting go.And we’ve evolved — a lot.
⸻Creating Life-Changing Wigs
People sometimes ask, “Is it really life-changing?”Yes.Not because a wig magically fixes everything. But because confidence changes how you show up.When you don’t have to think about your hair, you can think about your life. When you feel like yourself again, you step forward differently. When your reflection matches your spirit, something settles. We’ve had women message us years later saying their wig got them through chemo. Through divorce. Through postpartum hair loss. Through starting a new job. Through rebuilding their self-esteem.We’ve had daughters bring their mums.Friends bring friends.People bring their sick partner or child. Sons bring their sick mums. That’s not just a product. That’s impact.
⸻Built at HQ, Built With Heart
Every wig created at our HQ carries ten years of lessons.Ten years of fittings.Ten years of feedback.Ten years of refinement. We know what works. We know what doesn’t. We know the tiny adjustments that make a lace front sit flatter. The difference a slightly softer density makes. The power of the perfect colour blend. Our pieces are handcrafted with intention. Designed for real women. Tested in real life.Industry-leading doesn’t mean we are perfect. It means we are committed.Committed to getting better.Committed to raising standards.Committed to staying human in an industry that can sometimes feel impersonal.
⸻More Than a Wig Shop
What started as a spare room side project has become something so much bigger than I ever imagined. It’s a team. It’s a community. It’s a space where vulnerability is met with kindness. We’re not here to make women feel like they need wigs. We’re here for the women who want them. Need them. Love them. We’re here to say: you don’t have to be embarrassed. You don’t have to hide. You don’t have to overcomplicate it.Just let us help 🫶🏻
⸻Ten Years Later
Ten years later, I still get that same feeling when someone tries on the right wig.The pause. The smile. The “Oh.”It never gets old. We’ve helped thousands of women. We’ve grown. We’ve learned. We’ve stayed true to why we started.
And we’re just getting started.
It’s about empowerment.
It’s about walking into a room feeling like yourself.
Thank you to every woman who trusted us.
Every woman who supported us.
Every woman who told a friend. You built this with us.
