Smaller movements don’t mean easier work.

Barre is a fusion between Ballet, Pilates and Yoga.

Barre is one of our more intense classes, which gets you burning in all the right places, creating long and lean muscles.

Because the movements are smaller and more controlled, there’s less momentum to rely on, which means the muscles have to stay engaged for longer.

That’s usually where people start to notice the difference, particularly through the hips, legs and postural muscles.

It’s not about how quickly you move through it, but how well you can hold and support the position.

For people who spend a lot of time sitting or working at a desk, this can be a really helpful way to bring the body back into a more supported position.

Coming back into movement isn’t always about doing more, it’s about doing it properly.
Most people don’t want to lose strength, but they also don’t want to aggravate something that’s already not quite right.

That’s usually where a more controlled approach becomes important.
Reformer allows strength to be rebuilt in a way that is supported and adaptable to how your body is moving on the day.

At Tugun, classes are kept small so we have time to observe, guide and adjust where needed, rather than expecting everyone to move through the same thing in the same way.

For many people, that’s what allows confidence to return, because they’re not left guessing, they’re being guided through the process.

Strength built this way tends to feel more reliable, because it’s supported properly from the start.

If you are looking to regain strength in a supported way, have a look at our Reformer classes today.

The way your body moves is usually a reflection of how it’s being used day to day.

If you’re sitting for long periods, training in a certain way, or carrying stress through the body, that tends to show up in movement patterns over time.
Tightness, imbalance and a lack of stability don’t usually come from one moment, but from repetition.

At The Body Method, our focus is on helping people build a strong, controlled and healthy body, and that starts with understanding how the body is actually functioning - not just working through exercises.

That’s why we place such a strong emphasis on positioning, alignment and quality of movement, and why our instructors are trained to look at how the whole body is working together, not just the area that feels tight or weak.

When that starts to shift, even slightly, it often carries into everyday life.
Movement feels easier.
Posture feels more supported.
The body feels more capable overall.

It’s not about doing more, but about doing things in a way that allows the body to function well over time.

A lot of people come to Pilates because something in their body doesn’t feel quite right, even if they can’t fully explain what it is.

It might be stiffness, a lack of strength, or just a sense that things aren’t moving or supporting them the way they used to.

All of our instructors are trained to look at how the body is functioning as a whole, so rather than just working the area that feels tight or weak, we look at how everything is working together and what the body might actually need.

That’s where Pilates - when it’s taught with attention to positioning, control and alignment - becomes something more than just exercise. It becomes a way of understanding how your body moves and how to support it properly.

Over time, that approach tends to build a different kind of strength - one that feels more stable, more supported, and more reliable in day-to-day life.

It’s not usually one big change that makes the difference, but a series of smaller adjustments, guided well, that allow the body to move back towards balance.

If you’re interested in making a change and want to try one of our many forms of Pilates at The Body Method, check out our website today.

When the body holds tension for a long time, stretching alone doesn’t always resolve it.

There are times where stretching feels helpful, and then there are times where it feels like you’re doing a lot of it without much change - particularly if your body has been holding the same patterns for a while.

Tension through the hips, stiffness through the upper back, or that general feeling of the body not quite letting go, can often sit a little deeper than the muscle itself.
That’s where release work becomes more useful.

At The Body Method, our Stretch, Roll & Release classes use rollers and balls to work through areas that tend to hold that tension, helping to restore a sense of movement and space, rather than just length.

It’s a slower class, and it’s not about intensity. It’s more about allowing the body to gradually soften and respond.

For many people, this becomes an important part of their week because it supports everything else they’re doing.

If you are experiencing tension, and stretching alone is no longer cutting it, visit our website today.

Mat Pilates can look quite simple from the outside, but it tends to challenge the body in a different way because there’s no external support to rely on.

Without springs or assistance, your body has to organise and support itself, which makes alignment and positioning much more important.

That’s why, at The Body Method, we often slow things down in Mat. It’s less about getting through a sequence and more about understanding what your body is doing within each movement.

At our Cornerstone studio, we’ll use props like circles, bands and balls to bring awareness to certain areas, not to complicate things, but instead to help you feel where you’re working and where you might be compensating.

For a lot of people, this is where things start to make more sense. Once you can feel how your body is moving, it becomes much easier to change it.

That awareness tends to carry across into everyday movement as well.

Strength and stability don’t always develop at the same time.

It’s quite common for people to feel strong in certain movements, but still feel a lack of control or stability underneath that strength, and it usually shows up in subtle ways rather than anything obvious.

You might notice one side working harder than the other, a joint not feeling particularly supported, or certain areas taking over when they don’t need to.

Those patterns tend to build over time, especially if they’re not being addressed.
Reformer Pilates is useful because it gives very clear feedback. The resistance, the setup and the positioning all highlight how your body is moving, and where it might be compensating.

At our studio in Tugun, the smaller class sizes mean there’s time to work with that properly. Instead of just moving through exercises, there’s space to adjust, refine and guide the movement so it actually supports what your body needs.

That’s often where people start to feel a more noticeable shift, not just in strength, but in how stable and connected their movement feels overall.

If you are interested in Reformer Pilates at The Body Method, we have a variety of highly experienced instructors ready to support you: https://www.thebodymethod.com.au/

We’ve had quite a few strong, committed men walk through Tugun saying the same thing:
“I’ve had a few injuries.”
“I’m trying to get back into athletics.”
“I don’t want to make it worse.”

Reformer at Tugun allows strength to be rebuilt in a controlled way.

It’s not about going light.
It’s about going well.

When we focus on alignment, control and fewer quality reps, people rebuild confidence, not just muscle.

If you’ve been sitting on the fence because you think Pilates isn’t challenging enough, it might surprise you.

Not all yoga days feel the same.

Some days you want strong and dynamic.
Some days you want slow and steady.
Some days you just need to lie on a bolster and breathe.

At Cornerstone you’ll find:
• Power Flow — strong, controlled, steady movement
• Slow Flow — foundations and control
• Yin — longer holds working through deeper lines
• Restorative — supported stretch using props
• Yin Meditation — calm, nervous system reset
• Fascia Flow — focuses on optimal stability and postural integrity
The point isn’t intensity.
It’s choosing what your body needs that day.

There’s a big difference between being in a room with reformers…and being in a room where someone is actually watching how you move.

At Tugun, Reformer classes are capped at 6.

That means:
We can see when your hips are shifting.
We can adjust your foot placement.
We can modify, if your shoulder isn’t loving something.

A lot of our clients come to us after trying larger classes and say,
“I wasn’t sure if I was doing it right.”

Here, you won’t be guessing.
Reformer at Tugun is strength and stretch, control and correction, not just tempo and burn.

There’s a reason semi-private exists at Tugun.
It’s not a watered-down private.
And it’s not just a smaller group class.

It sits in the middle, intentionally.
Sometimes someone walks in and says:
“I’ve got a shoulder that doesn’t love overhead work.”
“My hips have been tight since my last training block.”
“I don’t feel confident in a full class yet.”
“I want correction, but I don’t need one-on-one every week.”

That’s where a semi-private works best.
Capped at three.
Enough space to move.
Enough attention to adjust.

You’re not guessing whether you’re in the right position.
You’re not rushing through sets.
And if something doesn’t feel right, we change it.

These sessions are often where people rebuild.
Strength after injury.
Confidence after time off.
Control after years of “just pushing through.”

If you’re unsure whether group or private suits you best, this is often the bridge.
