This standing hip abduction is one of Taylor’s favourite exercises because it’s simple, low-impact, and highly effective for maintaining hip strength and stability. It’s especially beneficial for improving balance, reducing fall risk, and supporting everyday movements!

For nearly 20 years, Staying Active has been helping people move with more confidence and ease 🤸
What started as a small idea has grown into a community built around helping people stay strong, independent, and active in their everyday lives.
Over that time, we’ve worked with thousands of people, each with different goals, challenges, and starting points.
A simple approach has always guided us. We provide individualised care in a community environment 🤝
The right support, the right exercise, and a focus on keeping people doing the things they enjoy 💙

One of our founder Taylor’s favourite exercises—especially fitting as we celebrate our 20th year—is the bent over towel row, a simple yet effective movement you can do almost anywhere. It helps build upper back strength, supports better posture, and can make everyday activities feel easier and more comfortable over time.

Staying active throughout your life has many benefits including the development of "muscle memory".
If you were active in your 20s–40s, your body can rebuild strength much faster later in life than someone who never trained. Even starting exercise after 60, your body still responds more efficiently than expected!

Long-lasting back pain isn’t just physical—it’s shaped by how confident you feel about moving, your emotional wellbeing, and worries that activity might make things worse. Supporting a positive mindset and building trust in safe movement can make a real difference in recovery and day-to-day comfort.

Wall Angels have been one of our Taylor’s favourite exercises since day one! As we celebrate 20 years since Taylor opened the doors, it’s amazing to reflect on how we’ve grown—from a small exercise centre focused on falls prevention to a thriving community with three centres across Sydney and a wonderful online member network. 💪

Some things never change though… simple, effective exercises like this are still at the heart of what we do!
