Australia has one of the leading skin cancer rates in the world, and as a specialist plastic surgeon, Dr Aggarwal treats many patients with skin cancers - not just in cosmetically sensitive areas like the face, but anywhere where they may be difficult to excise due to limited skin.
Regular skin checks are the best recommendations for managing skin cancer and if you are concerned regarding a skin spot that is enlarging, has become painful, or has recently broken down you should have it examined immediately by your GP, plastic surgeon or dermatologist.
In this photo Dr Aggarwal is performing a punch biopsy for a patient, which is performed under local anaesthetic, and a sample of the tissue is sent for examination which reveals if the spot will need further surgery or treatment. We can remove simple skin cancers or lesions in our rooms under local anaesthetic or for more complex procedures under sedation or general anaesthetic in a hospital.
