With all the green attire around today, one could’ve been forgiven for thinking a mass prison outbreak had descended upon our local parkrun. But fear not, it was simply Stutch’s 250th parkrun!
Today marks a monumental achievement in the parkrun world that will make us all green with envy. Mark Stutchbury (Stutch) today completed his 250th parkrun! That’s 1250km of knee jarring good times!
Since his parkrun birthday on 12th September 2015, he’s been a familiar face at events all around Australia and across the globe.
With a lightning fast PB of 20:08, (21:02 here in Goulburn) Stutch has shown that speed and consistency go hand in hand. But his parkrun journey has never been just about the stopwatch, it’s been about contribution, and adventure.
Over the years, Stutch has generously volunteered 52 times, taking on 11 different roles, including Run Director.
His parkrun passport is impressive; he’s run in seven different countries:
• Australia
• United Kingdom (including Scotland)
• France
• Germany
• Italy
• Canada
• Singapore
• And in a few weeks, Japan
And among these, he made the pilgrimage to the hallowed ground in London, at Bushy parkrun, the birthplace of it all. There, he had the honour of meeting Paul Sinton-Hewitt, the founder of parkrun, a moment that surely stands out in his journey.
Stutch’s love for exploration is evident in his 50 different parkrun locations, including some historic firsts right here in Australia:
• Main Beach, QLD — Australia’s first parkrun
• Torrens, SA — South Australia’s first parkrun
• Ginninderra, ACT — ACT’s first parkrun
Kudos to you Stutch, 250 runs and 52 volunteer stints
