If you live around Gorman Road or walk your dogs in that area, please be aware that Goulburn Mulwaree Council will be using Pindone bates during January and February. Pindone is an anti-coagulant similar to rat bait which interferes with the bloods ability to clot leading to excessive bleeding. Dogs and cats are most at risk from secondary poisoning from eating poisoned rabbits.
Signs of Pindone poisoning in pets may include:
- Weakness
- Lethargy
- Pale gums
- Bruising
- Bleeding
- Increased respiratory (breathing) rate

The best way to protect your pets is to avoid the areas being baited or make sure you keep your pets on a lead if walking in those areas. If you think your pet may have consumed either a bait or a baited rabbit, please take them to your Vet urgently.

We are heading into Christmas party and visitor season, which can mean our pets may eat some things they are not supposed to.

🎁Christmas meats like ham are high in fat and can lead to pancreatitis,
🎁Sultanas and grapes can cause kidney failure, as can some Christmas plants
🎁Onions and garlic can damage red blood cells and lead to anemia
🎁Batteries pose the same risk for our pets as they do for children.
🎁 Christmas decorations can be ingested and lead to obstructions

Just a reminder that Christmas is a hot time of year, ensure your pet is kept cool, has plenty of shade and water.

If your pet happens to get into any of these things, or is showing signs of heat distress do not hesitate to contact your vet.

Before Geoffrey was given the all clear he had his annual vaccination and is now up to date with flea and tick prevention.

The Crookwell Vets team has seen a few parvo cases lately.
Just a reminder to check with your vet if you are up to date with your furry friends vaccinations.

🚨PARVO ALERT 🚨
At Crookwell Vets we have had two confirmed cases of Canine Parvovirus. Owners are advised to be vigilant and ensure their dogs are up to date with vaccinations.

Symptoms include:
- Vomiting
- Diarrhoea (often bloody)
- Lethargy
- Inappetance

Pre-cautions:
- Ensure puppies that have not had their full course of vaccinations are kept in your property and not taken to public areas
- Ensure all dogs are up to date with vaccination, if in doubt call your vet to confirm
- If you suspect parvo, isolate the dog immediately and thoroughly disinfect contaminated areas with bleach or a proper disinfectant.
- Seek immediate veterinary care if symptoms appear; early treatment is critical.
