🎉Meet Mitch - Caringa Allied Health's Exercise Physiologist 🎉

Mitch is passionate about helping people improve their health and wellbeing through safe, effective exercise.

Get to know Mitch below with some fun facts!

✨Why did you become an Exercise Physiologist?

I became an exercise physiologist because I’ve always loved sports and exercise, so becoming an EP was my excuse to talk about it all day and actually get paid for it! Plus, I really like the idea of being able to help people live healthier lives.

✨What’s your favourite type of exercise or activity?

Personally, my favourite type of exercise is athletics (track and field) followed closely by soccer.

✨What’s one surprising thing people don’t know about exercise physiology?

Something a lot of people don’t realise is that exercise physiologists work with a very large variety of clients including sport performance, people living with a disability, musculoskeletal injury, mental health conditions, neurological conditions and chronic disease.

✨What’s your favourite way to relax after a busy day?

I really enjoy getting home and playing outside with the kids.

✨If you weren’t an Exercise Physiologist, what job would you do?

If I weren’t an exercise physiologist, I’d be a biomedical scientist – still helping people, just from the lab and not from the gym.

✨What’s your favourite thing to do on the weekend?

Something outdoors with the kids like going to the beach, fishing or playing sport.

We are now accepting referrals for Exercise Physiology - simply follow the link below to get started today! 😎

❗️If you spend 3m:54sec online watching videos/reels today, spend it watching this. Unlike much of the content that fills the digital atmosphere, this is very important.❗️

Today is International Day of People with Disability.

Fostering Disability Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress:

"Across all regions, persons with disabilities and their households face challenges and barriers in the attainment of social development objectives:

❗️They are more likely to live in poverty;
❗️They continue to face discrimination in employment, receiving lower wages and being overrepresented in the informal sector;
❗️Social protection systems are uneven in coverage and inadequate when considering extra disability-related costs, frequently excluding persons with disabilities in the informal sector; and,
❗️Many persons with disabilities’ experiences within care and support systems continue to be marked by the denial of their dignity, autonomy and agency.

The three core themes of social development, i.e. poverty eradication; promotion of full and productive employment and decent work for all; and social integration, are interrelated, mutually reinforcing and require an enabling environment so as to be achieved simultaneously. The inclusion of persons with disabilities as both agents and beneficiaries of social development is indispensable. Disability inclusion in all aspects of social, economic, cultural and political life is therefore an imperative.

The theme of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2025, “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress”, builds on the reaffirmed commitment of world leaders gathered at the Second World Summit for Social Development to build a more just, inclusive, equitable and sustainable world and their understanding that advancing progress on social development depends on, and indeed necessitates, the inclusion of all segments of society."

Caringa Australia is proud to have supported and empowered our community for over 70 years. Now it is time to take the next steps, as a Town/City/Region/State/Country more broadly, to create a society where people with disability thrive in all areas and interactions of life. 🙌

IDPwD 2025 Ambassadors discuss their big questions on how we can build a more inclusive society.

Our Story

Caringa supports the experience and enjoyment of ‘A Complete Life’ with choice and independence.

Caringa Australia Limited (Caringa) is a diverse, mission-focussed, values-based and socially responsible organisation which started in Grafton, NSW and now operates across the Clarence Valley and Coffs Harbour Council areas. Caringa is a leading provider of National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) supports and services. Caringa has been operating since 1953 when the community first raised funds to start a school for children with disability. Over time, Caringa has grown into an innovative and professional organisation offering people with disability a diverse range of supports and services. We continue to evolve to meet contemporary demand and to co-design services with clients.
