The most traditional of all yoga practices is meditation. For centuries yoga was synonymous with meditation, and only in recent decades has the physical practice of yoga asana become predominant. But meditation remains at the heart of all yoga lineages, and just as yoga asana practices and styles have evolved over the years, so have meditation techniques. Mindfulness as a form of meditation has become globally recognised as a therapeutic practice for stress-reduction, but the techniques draw heavily upon centuries old yoga traditions.

In this workshop we will explore some of the historical roots of meditation and how it evolved across the centuries and around the globe. We will review some of the most recent research findings on the effectiveness of mindfulness meditation as a tool for stress reduction, and learn mindfulness techniques that are simple, effective and accessible to all.

Gain a deep understanding of the universal principles of alignment based on the Anusara yoga tradition with senior teachers Amanda Zdanowicz and Sheila Ferguson.

This course forms one module of our 200hr yoga teacher training programme and is open to anyone wishing to advance their asana.

Intermediate students’ practice of the asanas will be greatly enhanced with knowledge and understanding of the importance of attitude and energetics which create the foundation of a heart-oriented practice for self-expression.

✨ Teacher Change Announcement | Mondays 'Rise & Shine' ✨

After 2 years of early Monday morning starts, our wonderful Kelly has decided to free up some time to focus more attention on her busy study schedule this year. We know you adore Rising & Shining with Kelly on Mondays and she will be sorely missed, but don't despair! You will still find Kelly in the studio every Sunday morning 7.30am as normal.

You last chance to Rise & Shine with Kelly on Mondays will be next week, 16 Feb at 6.00am! I hope you will join us in thanking Kelly for her dedication and consistency showing up every week for what is arguably the most challenging teaching slot on the schedule 🥱.

Fortunately there was no shortage of volunteers willing to take her place (crazy I know)! In fact Kelly will be replaced by not one, but TWO of your regular favourite SoHo teachers. Effective Monday 23 Feb, you will find Kerrie and Alexandra 'Rising & Shining' on alternating Monday mornings at 6 & 7.30am.

Deepen your knowledge and enhance your practice! We are delighted to offer the opportunity to enrol on one or more portions of our Yoga Immersion & Teacher Training with Amanda & Sheila in 2026. The following modules are open to intermediate students wishing to deepen their knowledge, or certified teachers wishing to continue their professional development.

> Principles of Alignment in Asana (27 Hours)
> Energetic Anatomy & Chakra Yoga (24 Hours)
> Yoga History, Traditions & Lifestyle (24 Hours)
> Pranayama & Meditation (15 Hours)

✨ Mindful Slow Flow | Mondays 9.15am & Wednesdays 4.30pm | With Nicole Sanders ✨

Incorporating mindful movement and breath awareness to help manage stress & anxiety, Mindful Slow Flow is taught from a trauma and mental health informed perspective.

Nic has been a dedicated yogi for most of her adult life and teaching since 2017. As a senior, experienced teacher (ERYT-500) she is passionate about yoga not only as a physical practice, but as a philosophy for everyday living. Her teaching gently weaves mindful movement, breath, and moments of contemplation to nourish the whole self.

With a special interest in yoga as a supportive modality for mental health, Nicole teaches from a trauma-aware and mental health-informed perspective and is the lead teacher/director of training on our Trauma Informed Yoga teacher training course.

✨ Quarterly Yoga for Mental Health Workshop | Sat 28 Feb ✨ Q1 Theme ~ Foundations of Safety: Polyvagal Theory & Nervous System Mapping

As we enter a new year, many of us feel the pull toward deeper self-care, steadiness, and attending to our mental and emotional well-being. This workshop offers a supportive and trauma-informed space to begin that journey — gently, sustainably, and with compassion.

In this first quarterly workshop of the Embodied Nervous System Reset series, we explore the foundations of your nervous system, the principles of Polyvagal Theory, and how to map your own states with clarity and self-understanding. You’ll learn how to “meet yourself where you are,” recognise your body’s cues without judgment, and discover simple ways to guide yourself back towards regulation.

We’ll weave together gentle movement to meet sympathetic energy, restorative shapes to soften into safety, and a guided rest meditation to settle and restore.

This offering is grounded in trauma-informed principles of safety, choice, consent, and inclusivity — everybody is welcome. All bodies, all identities, all levels of experience. No prior knowledge is needed.

It’s a supportive and empowering way to begin your year with intention, nervous system awareness, and practices that nourish your whole self.

Nicole is an eating disorder, mental health & trauma informed yoga teacher. She has lived experience with her own mental health issues and all the techniques you will be taught, Nicole uses to manage and control her own mental health & well-being.
