🤔 What’s the magic behind nursery rhymes? ✨ Kids of all ages and abilities adore them! You might find your little one singing the same tune on repeat. All. Day. Long.

Let’s dive into why and how we can use this to boost language skills! Nursery rhymes are catchy, short, silly, and most importantly: always the same!

Here are some strategies that our speechies use to develop language skills using nursery rhymes:

✅ Requesting: Encourage your child to select the next song using visuals or gestures, or stop singing and wait for them to request for more!

✅ Joint attention: Use actions and wait for your child to join in, or pretend you’re unsure and let them show you the way!

✅ Expressive language and social skills: Create space for your child to add to the song. Skip a line or pause at a word, and support collaborative singing via speech, gesture or AAC!
