We are committed to keeping all participants safe from fraud.

In recognition of International Fraud Awareness Week, weโ€™re sharing some tips to help you recognise fraud and learn how to protect yourself.

Some helpful tips include:

๐Ÿ”’ Never share your myGov login details.

๐Ÿ”’ Make sure you know who you are speaking with. If you are unsure, ask them for proof of employment.

๐Ÿ”’ Make sure your plan nominee is someone you trust as they can act on your behalf.

๐Ÿ”’ Only show your NDIS plan to people you know well and trust.

๐Ÿ”’ Always keep records of the things you pay for with your NDIS funds.

๐Ÿ”’ Always check your invoices to make sure you havenโ€™t been charged for services you didnโ€™t receive.

In this report, you can read about participant Jacob, a 24 year old from South Australia, who turned his passion for trains into a career. โ€˜Helping people get where they need to go safelyโ€™ he says, โ€˜itโ€™s everything Iโ€™ve ever wanted.โ€™

The NDIA and The Salvation Armyโ€™s Project 614 Cafรฉ in Melbourne have joined forces to support vulnerable locals in accessing the NDIS. ๐Ÿซฑ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿซฒ๐Ÿผ

Since August 2023, NDIA planners have worked onsite daily alongside cafe staff, health professionals and other government services to provide person-centred support to approximately 600 individuals who visit the cafรฉ each day.

โ€˜We all link in with each other because these patrons are vulnerable. They are at risk of disengaging, so we do our best to make sure they get the best possible experience,โ€™ says NDIA planner Felicity.

'For 40 minutes, all that idea of disability and challenge is forgotten โ€“ weโ€™re just mates on a field, playing footy, where weโ€™re accepted, and we're having fun.' ๐Ÿ‰

In the latest episode of NITV Radio's Speak My Language podcast from SBS Australia, Dr Alexander Smith speaks of his experience in the Physical Disability Rugby League.
The League has profoundly impacted Alexโ€™s life, keeping him active, providing social opportunities, and making massive strides for representation.

'Itโ€™s no longer associated with trauma, rehab and someone else dictating what Iโ€™m doing. Itโ€™s about having fun and getting to enjoy the ability to move again.'

We're developing the First Nations Market and Sector Development Strategy to grow First Nations services and support non-Indigenous providers to deliver culturally safe care.

To shape this work, we want to hear from providers.

If you work with First Nations participants, we invite you to:
