ULURU 2025 ✨
From Griffith to Lake Cargelligo to Hay, 23 Aboriginal youth and 9 staff and volunteers travelled over 5000kms for a once in a lifetime experience at Uluru 🧡
Youth were selected through an extensive process that included program participation, school engagement and community involvement, before completing applications, support letters and interviews to earn their spot on the trip 💪
Throughout the week we explored and connected deeply with Country, seeing Uluru up close, visiting the Cultural Centre, taking in the incredible views of Kata Tjuta, enjoying activities at the Gallery of Central Australia and yarning with Anangu 🖤 Our Segway tour around the base of Uluru was a highlight where staff shared Tjukurpa stories that have been passed down for generations 🌄
Even when the rain changed a few of our plans, the group found joy in every moment. Swimming, laughing, exploring the town centre and even having fun dancing in the rain 🌧️💦
We were there just one day before the 40th anniversary of the official Handback of Uluru to the Anangu people, and that energy could be felt through the land, the sky and the spirit of everyone there ❤️💛🖤
For many it was their first time flying, leaving NSW or seeing the red dirt, and watching our youth take it all in was something truly special 🌍 They learned how airports work (and how to sprint when your flight is about to leave you behind 😂), how to respect Country that is not your own and how to embrace every opportunity that comes their way 🌟
New friendships were built across our three youth sites, and the trip strengthened everything we stand for — connection, community, culture and empowerment. Together our youth found pride in who they are, strength in where they come from and hope for where they are going 🤍
