✨DALE✨

Dale is our newest Smoke Free Champion! This is his story.

"I smoked for 29 years. Honestly, I had been wanting to quit for so long, I kept playing that scenario over and over again in my head of 'you know the threat, don’t live with regret'.

I quit by going cold turkey. On New Year’s Eve I smoked a few in a row just before midnight and I made peace with it and just stopped. Now I have changed the narrative in my head to I’m a nonsmoker.

Smoking didn’t majorly affect my health, but its effects were slowly starting to catch up with me the older I got, for example asthma, wheezing and headaches.

If I could change my smoking story, I would have stopped a long time ago.

Smoking definitely impacted my fitness and health, luckily, I had no major health issues, but it was only a matter of time.

Since quitting, I sleep better, I haven’t had any Panadol or Nurofen since I quit, I have less stress worrying about the possibilities of chronic disease and I feel more motivated than ever to live a full clean, healthy, smoke free life.

Quit Now any way you can NRT, Cold turkey, hypnotherapy, whatever works for you and just change the narrative in your head to not giving something up but freeing yourself of a life stealing habit!"

Thank you, Dale, for sharing your story with us and being a role model for our younger generation and the wider community! 🚭💪🏾

If you are thinking of quitting, contact the Free, Fresh & Fit team to enquire about our upcoming programs or referrals to one-on-one support.

A big congratulations to our lucky winner from our January Cervical Screening Survey giveaway! Thank you to all the deadly women who took part and shared how much they know about Cervical Screenings. Your feedback helps us better support the community!

And a gentle reminder ladies, keeping up with your Cervical Screening is an important part of looking after yourself. If you’re unsure whether you’re eligible or have any questions, ask to have a yarn with one of our Nurses and they’ll be happy to talk you through it 🩷

Continuing our Sun Safety Month check-ins ☀️

We stopped by Griffith Wiradjuri Aboriginal Preschool to share some bucket hats and zooper doopers with these amazing ladies. A small way to say thank you for all the love, care and hard work you give our little ones every day. You spend so much time looking after others, don’t forget to look after yourselves too 💛

Thank you to Brett's Mechanical Repairs for completing a Smoke Free Policy Review.

It gives us the opportunity to monitor how effective our policies are following implementation. It also provides us with feedback and shows us the difference it makes to the environment and community by having a smoke free workplace.

For more information on how our team can support your organisation to become smoke free contact Stephen Johnson at sjohnson@griffithams.org.au.

Today is . This year’s theme, , reminds us that while cancer affects many of us, every person’s experience is different.

We’re united in our commitment to lessen the impact of cancer for Aboriginal people, families and communities across NSW.

Behind every statistic is a person, a family and a community — and their story matters. 💙

Early detection saves lives. Knowing your body, attending regular health checks and getting screened early can make a real difference.
