I didn't plan to spend my career in child protection. I came into this work through counselling, through trauma therapy, through a deep curiosity about how people heal.
But somewhere along the way - sitting with carers, listening to their stories, watching them show up again and again for children who sometimes made that incredibly hard - I realised that this is where I was supposed to be.
I've sat with carers who were on the edge of burnout.
I've sat with carers who were grieving a placement that ended.
I've sat with carers who had given everything and still felt like it wasn't enough.
And I've sat with carers who had a shift in understanding - a moment where something clicked - and I watched their whole approach change. Their relationship with the child change. Their own wellbeing change.
That shift doesn't happen through willpower alone. It happens through knowledge. Through support. Through a community that understands.
That's why I built The Connected Carer.
Not because carers are doing it wrong. But because they deserve so much more than they're currently being given.
You are doing extraordinary work. I want to make it feel more possible. đ
