Why see a naturopath as part of pelvic health care?

We asked Kerrie this very question. Here's what she said:

If you’re already seeing the pelvic health physio team and thinking, “Could naturopathy help me too?” The short answer is yes, often beautifully alongside physio care.

As a naturopath, I support what’s happening inside the body, so your treatment works better overall. You might see me for support with:

Gut health
• Constipation
• Loose stools or urgency
• Bloating, reflux, IBS-type symptoms
• Gut issues linked to stress or hormones

Hormones
• Painful, heavy or frequent periods
• PMS, PCOS, perimenopause & menopause
• Cycle changes, low progesterone, hormonal anxiety
• Supporting pelvic health through hormonal balance

Pelvic health support
• Working alongside your physio for pelvic pain, endo, bladder
or bowel issues
• Addressing inflammation, gut–pelvic connections and
hormone drivers

Men’s health
• Prostate support
• Hormones, energy and longevity/ ageing well
• Gut health and inflammation

Stress, sleep & mental health
• Insomnia, poor sleep quality & early waking
• Chronic stress or burnout
• Anxiety, low mood or feeling “not quite yourself”

Paediatric care (an area I feel deeply passionate about)
• Constipation and gut issues in children
• Eczema and other skin concerns
• Colic, reflux and unsettled babies
• Supporting our little ones gently (while holding space for the
amazing caregivers who need care too)

My approach is practical, realistic and supportive, no extremes, no judgment, and no trying to be perfect. Nothing fancy, just consistency and a few clever tricks to fit into your lifestyle.

Naturopathy helps support your body from the inside.

Curious about hypnobirthing? Check out our blog!
"Hypnobirthing is a gentle, evidence-informed approach that helps you prepare both mind and body for birth.
In today’s world, where information is everywhere and expectations around birth can feel overwhelming, many women approach labour with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. Some attend hospital antenatal classes, while others feel they don’t need any preparation at all — but birth isn’t just a physical event. It’s an emotional and transformative experience, and how you feel during it truly matters."

A common concern our new mum's have is regarding ab separation or re**us abdominus diastasis. For more information head to our blog and get in touch if you have concerns on 9274 5666

Recent research has changed our understanding of this normal muscle separation that occurs in pregnant women, and how to assess and treat it after the birth of your baby. In the past, it was thought that abdominal exercises such as crunches, may make this worse. As we seek to better understand a wom...

Our Story

Exercise classes with a women's health physio are a great way to safely improve/maintain your "core" strength, flexibility and fitness during pregnancy, as well as after the birth of your baby... with the added benefit of helping you to get back into shape postnatally. All of our classes are conducted by postgrad-qualified women's health physiotherapists who have a passion for working with women during pregnancy, after the birth of your baby.. and beyond... to help your body stay strong and also recover, during this unique time of life. We have a special interest in "pelvic floor safe" exercise as well as muscle (motor) development in young babies. We offer postnatal hydrotherapy classes on Tuesdays at Ellenbrook, and Thursdays at Maida Vale. These mums & bubs pool classes involve a 25min session with your baby in the water (32 degrees heated pool), where we introduce your baby to water in a lovely, gentle music-based way, with different movements during each song to promote healthy muscle development in your baby; but most of all, this is an enjoyable, special time for mum and baby together in the water. This is followed by an exercise session for mums only, lasting about 45mins and targeting all of those muscles and joints that have altered slightly during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period; babies are strapped into their prams during the exercise session (hopefully for a sleep!) or feel free to bring grandparents or dads along to babysit!! There is time to feed your baby between the two sessions.

In 2018 we have teamed up with FitRight who are providing local pregnancy and postnatal exercise classes with an experienced physiotherapist. At Hillview Physiotherapy we are able to provide assessments prior to commencing your FitRight class, and also expert advice and management programs to tailor your exercise during this unique time of life.

At Hillview Physiotherapy we also provide fitball-based exercise classes for men and women, with a focus on pelvic health, strengthening (from the inside out!) and flexibility.. we believe that just because we are ageing, doesn’t mean we need to lose ability - in our classes we expect to find new abilities to move, to strengthen and to heal.
