Mindfulness During Christmas & The Holiday Season:

Some people find Christmas & the holiday period a stressful time.
Mindfulness helps to bring attention to the present moment with acceptance.
Some Ways to help make these times a bit easier :
- Try not to get upset when celebrations donโ€™t live up to your expectations. Not everything has to be perfect.
- Prioritise what is important for you.
- If you become overwhelmed by this busy time of year, think of the things you are grateful for & all the good things you have in your life.
- Donโ€™t let stress take over your joy.
- Be kind to others. Some people find Christmas & holidays a difficult time, they might be without family and friends and feeling alone.
- If you are feeling tense, taking a few deep breaths, may help you cope with anxiety or tension.
- Keep moving, regular exercise helps to calm the mind and it can distract you from daily worries.

Keep focused on how long you spend in the sun and protect your skin with a Broad spectrum SPF 30 or higher.
Make sure itโ€™s applied regularly and even on cloudy days.

Massage Can Help With Inflammation:

Massage therapy can help reduce inflammation, it works by stimulating the lymphatic system.
The lymphatic system is drained from excess fluid and waste products, which helps to reduce swelling and promote healing.
- Massage can help to lower levels of cytokines ( small proteins important for cell signalling, they help to control growth of other cells, that help the bodyโ€™s immune and inflammation responses.) This can reduce pain and inflammation
- When we have an injury, Massage can stimulate the lymphatic system by removing excess fluid and waste from injured tissues. This helps to reduce inflammation & swelling.
- Chronic inflammation can be persistent and a long term condition. Massage therapy has long been known for its relaxation benefits, although it is now believed to help manage chronic inflammation. Massage therapy can stimulate the production of mitochondria ( powerhouses of the cell, producing energy necessary for cell functions & survival).
