What a fantastic day at the Heywood Wood, Wine & Roses Festival! 🪵🍷🌹

As part of our Community Connections calendar, Neil and Duncan headed along to soak up the atmosphere at this iconic Western Victoria event, and there really was something for everyone. We enjoyed the colourful street parade and market stalls, joined in on fun activities (🐍 and 🦖) and really enjoyed being part of the atmosphere of a lively community celebration.

It was wonderful to spend time together and connect with the wider community. 🧡

This time ... Alexandra House! Known for its welcoming and inclusive environment, naturally we love coming to Alexandra House to unwind, get social, enhance our money handling skills and enjoy a good pub meal!

We were also grateful to collect the donations from the Alexandra House tin, which help support the ongoing upkeep of the Centre.

Thanks to Alexandra House for giving us all of that at this week's Community Connections dinner outing. See you again soon! 👋

Last week, as part of our Community Connections calendar, participants and staff headed out for dinner at The Cally Hamilton ... always a hit with its great pub meals, central location and plenty of friendly faces to mingle with.

These outings are about more than just a good meal. They offer participants the chance to get out and about in the community, build confidence, practise ordering and paying for meals, use money skills, and enjoy social connection in a real-world setting.

We're lucky to be part of such an inclusive community that makes these dinner outings so popular with our participants! 🍽️👏🧡

Yesterday Mulleraterong proudly hosted a South West Advocacy Network meeting, welcoming people from across the region for a meaningful and collaborative discussion.

Together with Cooinda Terang, Kyeema Support Services, Portland., Southern Stay Disability Services Inc and connected self advocates, the group shared organisational updates, wellbeing wins, achievements and new learnings, and most importantly, created space for participants and people with a disability to raise current self-advocacy issues and speak openly about what matters to them.

The meeting also highlighted upcoming training opportunities, including Voice at the Table sessions and ways to strengthen representation on boards and advisory groups, reinforcing the Network’s commitment to empowering people to have their voices heard.

It's always inspiring to witness self-advocacy in action - people sharing experiences, supporting one another, and working together to strengthen inclusion and human rights across our region. We are proud to be part of such a vibrant and collaborative community. 🧡

What a great day out for participants and staff at the Geelong Cats AFL Community Camp in Warrnambool! 🏉

A big group headed along to the open training session at Reid Oval to watch the Cats in action as they prepare for the 2026 season, and with a few die-hard supporters in the mix, the atmosphere delivered.

In a really special and thoughtful gesture, the Geelong Cats also gifted Mulleraterong a signed guernsey, which will be proudly displayed at the Centre or used to support future fundraising efforts. You can see in the group photo with the Cats’ Head of Community, Will McGregor, Nerida proudly holding up the signed guernsey - a moment that made an already great day even more memorable.

A wonderful community experience enjoyed by participants and staff alike. 💙🤍

Neil, Tom and Emma, accompanied by staff, attended the Having a Say Conference in Geelong on Wednesday - Australia’s largest conference led by and for people with disability.
The conference aims to empower people with disability to have a say on issues that affect their lives, celebrate ability and achievement, and connect with others through shared experiences and self-advocacy.

We joined in on a range of sessions and activities focused on speaking up, building confidence, forming friendships, and learning more about rights, inclusion and community participation. From workshops and performances to open mic sessions and social activities, it was a day filled with opportunities to listen, share and connect.

A meaningful experience and a great chance to be part of conversations that help build a more inclusive future. Thanks to VALID, sponsors and partners for a wonderful experience.
