We’re excited to welcome Aayusha to the Gen Health team!
Aayusha enjoys working with musculoskeletal conditions involving joints (neck, shoulder, knee ... ) with a strong focus on understanding why issues occur and addressing contributing biomechanical factors as part of treatment. She also has a particular interest in geriatric rehabilitation, helping older adults work towards meaningful, functional goals through tailored rehab programs.

Aayusha’s journey into physiotherapy was shaped by her own experience with stress and the impact of a sedentary lifestyle - leading her to discover a profession grounded in movement, biomechanics and helping people improve their health with minimal reliance on medication. It’s a perspective that comes through in her thoughtful, patient-centred approach.

Outside the clinic you’ll find her at the gym, creating art, or working on increasing her running kilometres (note to her patients: accountability encouraged!).

We’re thrilled to have Aayusha on board and can’t wait for our community to welcome her 💚

Is this your child? 👇
Bright, active, loves being outdoors… but struggles with big emotions, focus, or fine motor skills when it comes to school and home routines.

For some children, things like holding a pencil, staying regulated in the classroom, or transitioning between tasks can feel really hard - even when they’re capable and trying their best. That’s where Occupational Therapy can help.

At Gen Health, our OTs support children to build the skills they need to:
• improve fine motor control
• regulate emotions and behaviour
• engage more confidently at school
• feel more settled and supported at home

We work closely with families, schools and other health professionals to make strategies practical, realistic and suited to busy households, because we know life doesn’t slow down.

If you’ve ever wondered whether OT could help your child, you’re not alone. We’ve shared more about how OT supports children across home and school in our blog: https://buff.ly/zqX6SEW

At Gen Health, our Physiotherapy team takes a goals-based approach, taking the time to fully assess your injury, movement and biomechanics before creating a treatment plan that’s tailored to you.

So, whether you’re dealing with a new injury, ongoing pain, or returning to work or sport, our physios use a mix of hands-on treatment and exercise-based rehab to help you move well again.

You can book Physiotherapy appointments at Gen Health for a range of needs, and as a result treatment may include manual therapy, dry needling, joint mobilisation, massage, and structured rehab focusing on strength, control and flexibility — always guided by the latest evidence.

No matter the presentation, our goal is simple: to support your full return to function, work and sport.

As podiatrists, we often see an increase in foot issues over summer - more walking, more sport, more time barefoot, and more time in thongs or sandals.

A few simple tips can go a long way in keeping your feet healthy this season, because your feet are the foundation of movement, and summer is when they do a lot of work.

We recognise that January 26 holds different meanings for different people. While some mark it as a day of celebration, for many it is a day of mourning. At Gen Health, we are committed to listening, learning and contributing to reconciliation, and to a more respectful and inclusive future for all.

So today, we acknowledge the Gunditjmara people as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we live and work, and we pay our respects to Elders past and present. We extend that respect to all First Nations peoples and honour their enduring connection to Country, culture and community.

And today, we pause to reflect. Our clinic is closed today (Monday 26 January), and reopens from 8am tomorrow (Tuesday 27 January).

At Gen Health, your care doesn’t stop once pain settles or symptoms improve.
Our allied health team works collaboratively to support you through recovery and long-term health.

Here’s how it works:
• Physiotherapy assesses, diagnoses and treats pain or injury, helping you move safely and confidently again.
• Exercise Physiology builds on this foundation by progressing strength, endurance and functional capacity through structured, evidence-based exercise.
• Podiatry supports the foundation of movement - your feet and lower limbs - helping optimise biomechanics, reduce strain and prevent re-injury.
• Occupational Therapy focuses on helping you participate fully in everyday life, supporting function, independence and confidence at home, work and in the community.

Together, this team approach ensures you’re supported at every stage: from recovery, to rebuilding, to staying well.

If you’re currently seeing one of our Physios, Podiatrists or OTs and wondering what the next step might look like, an Exercise Physiology appointment could be a valuable addition to your care. 💚

A supportive, collaborative workplace where practitioners value learning, evidence-based care, and working together to achieve the best outcomes for clients. 💚

There’s a growing demand for Occupational Therapy in our region, and at Gen Health, OTs aren’t working in isolation. You’ll be part of a large multidisciplinary team, collaborating closely with Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, and Exercise Physiologists to provide well-rounded, meaningful care.

It’s a place where curiosity is encouraged, professional development is supported, and practitioners genuinely want to stay at the top of their field - while being backed by strong systems, admin support and a team that cares.

If you’re an OT looking for a role where collaboration, clinical quality and community impact truly matter, this might be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Meet our new Exercise Physiologist, Emma 💚
If you’re looking for support with starting exercise, managing pain, or building confidence in your movement, Emma’s someone you’ll feel very comfortable working with.

Emma enjoys helping people with musculoskeletal conditions, arthritis, chronic disease management, and older adults focusing on strength, balance and falls prevention. She’s especially passionate about supporting people who want to move better but aren’t quite sure where to start.

Her journey into allied health was inspired by seeing how exercise physiology can create a safe, empowering space for people to move at their best - improving health, wellbeing and confidence along the way. That thoughtful, supportive approach is something she will bring into every session at Gen Health.

Outside the clinic, you’ll find Emma playing netball, exploring the local area, or cruising around in her family’s truck. She’ll never say no to pasta, and if you’re keen for a fun chat, ask her about the history of forestry in South Australia!

Emma is now seeing patients in 1-on-1 Exercise Physiology appointments and running Group classes, supporting people to move safely, confidently and sustainably. If this sounds like something that could help you, we’d love to help you get started.

Spending a lot of time at your desk this year? Let’s make it work for you 💻

Peep Kate and Carl going through a few simple ways to set up your desk to reduce strain and stay comfortable while you work.

One of our favourite reminders? “Your best posture is your next posture.”

It’s okay to sit upright.
It’s okay to slump a little.
It’s okay to lean on an elbow or shift to one side - as long as you’re changing positions regularly and giving your body a break from staying still. Small position changes every 15–20 minutes can make a big difference to how you feel by the end of the day.

There’s no one perfect posture. The goal is movement, variety, and a setup that supports you - especially if you’re working from home or at a desk most days.

We’ve put together a helpful desk setup guide to support healthier work habits: https://buff.ly/N1L4c3m

If you’re experiencing ongoing neck, shoulder or back discomfort, our physio team is here to help.

New year, new class… and hopefully new school shoes that actually support growing feet. 👣

Kids spend over 1,500 hours a year in their school shoes - running, playing, learning and standing on hard surfaces - so the right footwear *really* matters.

If your child is complaining of:
• heel or foot pain
• tired or sore legs
• rubbing or blisters
• changes in the way they walk
…it’s worth having their footwear (and feet) checked. And if pain or concerns persist, our Gen Health podiatry team is here to help.

We’ve shared more about why quality school shoes matter in our latest blog - have a read! 💚

We’re looking for an Occupational Therapist to join our Gen Health team 💚
This role is for an OT who values good clinical care, genuine connection, and being part of a supportive multidisciplinary team - without losing your independence or professional identity.

At Gen Health, you’ll be joining a large, well-established allied health clinic where collaboration is real, admin support is strong, and your role is respected. You’ll have the opportunity to work across a broad scope (including paediatrics, if that’s of interest), with support, supervision and trust to shape your caseload in a way that works for you.

We’re ideally looking for someone with some experience, but we're flexible, so if you’re the right fit, we want to hear from you.

Why OTs choose Gen Health:
• A large multidisciplinary clinic with genuine collaboration
• Strong admin support so you can focus on your clients
• Collaboration, mentoring and professional development - without micromanagement
• Autonomy and flexibility within a supportive team structure
• Stability and security in an ever-changing funding environment
• A clinic culture built on empathy, evidence, teamwork and community

If you’re looking for meaningful work in a clinic that values both clinical excellence and people, this could be the right next step.
