What can look like “acting out” is often a child or adult’s way of communicating a need, feeling, or challenge they don’t yet have the words for.
Behaviour can show up when someone is tired, frustrated, anxious, or overwhelmed. At other times, it’s linked to sensory needs, where everyday environments feel uncomfortable or simply too much.
When we take time to understand the why behind the behaviour, including possible sensory triggers, we can respond with support, helping individuals feel safe, seen and understood.
At ECM, Hina, Occupational Therapist /Behavioural Support Practitioner works alongside individuals and families to uncover the reasons behind behaviour, reduce stress, and teach alternative strategies that support regulation and connection.
