COMMUNITY NOTICE - CLOSURE OF CASTLEFIELD CHILDCARE

Dear Castlefield Community,

In 2026, the BayCISS Committee established a Castlefield Working Group to review the future viability of the Occasional Child Care program at the Castlefield Community Centre.

After careful consideration, and due to the rising costs of maintaining compliance, the difficult decision has been made to discontinue the program. The final day of operation will be Friday, 26 June 2026.

The Committee acknowledges that this marks the conclusion of a long-standing community program and is committed to supporting families to access alternative childcare options.

Castlefield Community Centre will continue to operate, with all other programs and services remaining in place. Term 2 will commence as scheduled.

The childcare program has been part of our Centre for over 36 years. It has been the heart of Castlefield and generations of children have come through our doors. Many of you are part of this community because of it.

In speaking with our families over the past few days, one thing has stood out clearly – how deeply our educators are trusted and valued. Lynne, Robyn and Leintje bring such warmth, care and dedication to their work with children and families at Castlefield. The connections they have built are strong, genuine and deeply valued by our community. They have created an environment where children feel safe, understood and truly cared for. I feel very fortunate to have worked alongside them and deeply appreciate all they have given to this community.

What makes Castlefield special has always been the people. The families, the children, the relationships, the everyday moments.

We remain committed to the community and to continuing the work of connection, inclusion and belonging that defines the Castlefield Community Centre.

💰 Cost: $6 per family per session (paid termly) or $10 (casual).
🍏 Please bring a piece of fruit to share for morning tea

Join us for a fun morning where grandparents can connect while their little ones enjoy activities led by our facilitator, Lindy.
