Drop the pressure of making 'resolutions' and instead, start another year calmer and more grounded with these self-reflections.

What is calling for completion so you can start another year lighter?
🪷
Where are you still holding tension in the body and what is it telling you?
🪷
What have you learnt about yourself this year that you wish to continue?
🪷
Where did you grow quietly, without applause, and how can you honour this?
🪷
Who are you becoming and what small step can you take to bring this forward?
🪷
Try writing, journaling about these.. I’d love to know how you go…

In the words of Mother Teresa, ‘spread kindness wherever you go, let nobody come to you without leaving happier.’
🫴
A little kindness can change a life in an instant. We underestimate our ability to transform someone’s day with a smile, a word of encouragement, compassionate listening, a thoughtful surprise (like these gorgeous blooms from Christine and )
🫴
Wishing you the coming days filled with kindness, celebrate others with kindness, bring more kindness into the lives of all.

Keep reading 😅 not what you expect...
'My brain and
heart divorced
a decade ago
over who was
to blame about
how big of a mess
I have become

eventually,
they couldn't be
in the same room
with each other

now my head and heart
share custody of me
I stay with my brain
during the week
and my heart
gets me on weekends

they never speak to one another
instead, they give me
the same note to pass
to each other every week

and their notes they
send to one another always
says the same thing:
'This is all your fault'

on Sundays
my heart complains
about how my
head has let me down
in the past

and on Wednesday
my head lists all
of the times my
heart has screwed
things up for me
in the future

they blame each
other for the
state of my life

there's been a lot
of yelling - and crying
so, lately, I've been
spending a lot of
time with my gut
who serves as my
unofficial therapist

most nights, I sneak out of the
window in my ribcage
and slide down my spine
and collapse on my
gut's plush leather chair
that's always open for me

~ and I just sit sit sit sit
until the sun comes up

last evening,
my gut asked me
if I was having a hard
time being caught
between my heart
and my head
I nodded
I said I didn't know
if I could live with
either of them anymore

'my heart is always sad about
something that happened yesterday
while my head is always worried
about something that may happen tomorrow,'
I lamented

my gut squeezed my hand
'I just can't live with
my mistakes of the past
or my anxiety about the future,'

my gut smiled and said:
'in that case,
you should
go stay with your
lungs for a while,'

there is no yesterday in your lungs
there is no tomorrow there either
there is only now
there is only inhale
there is only exhale
there is only this moment
there is only breath

and in that breath
you can rest while your
heart and head work
their relationship out.

this morning,
while my brain
was busy reading
tea leaves
and while my
heart was staring
at old photographs

I packed a little
bag and walked
to the door of
my lungs
before I could even knock
she opened the door
with a smile and as
a gust of air embraced me
she said

'what took you so long?'

I believe how we choose to spend our time matters. And that making meaningful commitments in the lives of others enhances not only their world but our role in the world.
👭
Visiting my (late) mum in aged care had a profound impact on me – witnessing so many there with no family, no meaningful connections let alone any visitors. Especially at this time of year. I made a commitment to myself then and there that I'd find a way to create a more positive relationship with at least one ‘isolated’ person.
👭
Meet Simran the Volunteer Visitor Program Officer for Elders Right Australia in my region. Simran has been an amazing support and works with ACVVS, the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme. We met in person recently after I’d been volunteering in their program for over a year.
👭
Simran linked me through telephone contact to a youngish woman who does not wish to engage socially but needs support. It’s been an eye opening, confronting but very satisfying year establishing a virtual connection with her.
👭
It truly has given me a greater sense of appreciation for life and hopefully my ‘client’ has more days of consequence and joy.

Research shows that taking an active, participatory role in the world brings greater productivity and meaning into your life and others. If you’re interested look them up

YES ‍🧘‍♂️ recent research shows that when we practise with a strong motivation to promote spiritual growth and development, the actual practice ‘dose’ is less important than our attitude to the practice.
‍🧘‍♂️
Well-being measures of satisfaction with life and positive emotion (as motivators) are still relevant but not as important as your goal.
‍🧘‍♂️
What’s your experience here…

WHY do I keep posting if I’m not selling you anything?? A good Q I’ve been asking myself since 30 June!
🤔
I've learnt a heap of stuff in over 6.5 decades on this earth, 15 of those in small business, so if this helps even ONE person why wouldn't I👍
🤔
A shout out to small biz and for firmly planting this concept in my brain some years ago now!🙏👌
