Back in July, some of our participants attended Walanga Muru- our first camp, designed to support teens in building their life skills, expanding social circles and exploring new activities integrated within nature.
Together, they worked together to run their camp site building their interdependent skills like cooking their meals (and working together to clean up!), organising board game evenings (broadening their friendships and hosting friends), starting, maintaining and putting out the fire (learning to manage risk and manage personal safety) and a variety of adventure skills (to find our own edges and build our motor skills).
We had a great time test our limits and finding comfort within the discomfort. Thank you to The Y for hosting, and Karina from Nuture Nest for supporting our first overnight OT camp. We can't wait to do it again 🍃🍂🌙🌤
