We were delighted have so many members join us to kick off in style at the Victoria Branch Member Cocktail Event last night.

It was fantastic to see a strong contingent of members who are training to become full scope of practice pharmacists at the event and to have Victoria's Community Pharmacy of the Year, Camperdown Pharmacy with us on the evening.

A big thank to everyone who attended to network and renew connections ahead of the conference and to Barretts for sponsoring the 2026 member cocktails.

This , we're taking a moment to celebrate:

👩‍⚕️The incredible women who make up a significant proportion of our community pharmacy workforce; and
👩‍👧‍👧 The female patients who rely on their local pharmacies for affordable, timely and accessible healthcare solutions.

Grace Chong, a community pharmacist, Pharmacy Guild Of Australia - Victoria Branch Committee member, and sessional academic with Monash Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences recently contextualised how important it is for women patients to speak to a pharmacist at a time that's convenient for them, so they don't put off getting medical advice well before health issues become chronic or urgent.

"We can actually have a conversation with the patient right now, and look for the right contraceptive for them. That's going to mean better health outcomes for a lot of women in the community."

We need to do more to support women in our community, and reduce the mental load of juggling appointments, going back and forth to receive basic healthcare.

Access to contraception that is convenient, safe and affordable is important to women everywhere.

We welcome the Victorian Government's decision, which will allow women in Victoria to begin their oral contraception journey with trained community pharmacists, from July this year.

This will be a huge support for women across Victoria, particularly those in rural, regional and remote communities.

📣We've expanded our pharmacist prescribing training scholarship for Victorian Guild members and their employees!

The Pharmacist Prescribing Training Fund will now be available to Victorian Guild member pharmacists and their sponsored employees undertaking all Australian Pharmacy Council (APC) accredited postgraduate pharmacist prescribing courses recognised by the Victorian Government, including those offered by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) and tertiary education providers, such as Monash University.

What a fantastic morning at the Growing Your Pharmacy Business – International Women’s Day Breakfast yesterday!

We were delighted to welcome the Victorian Minister for Health Mary-Anne Thomas MP for a keynote address. Thank you Minister for joining us to celebrate the important role of women in pharmacy, and for sharing details of the achievements and expansion of the Community Pharmacist Program and the Allan Government’s important women’s health and wellbeing initiatives.

Thank you also to our outstanding panellists - Kristina Fox, Perri McCarthy and Natalie Sirianni - Business Broker at Attain - for your insights and practical advice on building successful pharmacy businesses. It was great to hear your lived examples of pharmacy ownership, and learn more about some of the key considerations for growing your business.

It’s always a pleasure hosting this event in conjunction with Attain Business Brokers, and we couldn’t do it without the support of our event sponsors, Arrotex Pharmaceuticals and Priceline Australia.
