💙 Today is World Autism Awareness Day.
At Colbrow Care, we believe everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported—every day. Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how people think, communicate, and experience the world around them.
With 1 in 40 Australians on the autism spectrum, and over 214,000 NDIS participants identifying autism as their primary disability, it’s more important than ever to listen, learn, and lead with empathy.
Together, we can create more inclusive communities—and provide care that truly meets people where they are.
💙 Today is World Autism Awareness Day.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person's brain develops and functions. It also shapes how someone sees, understands, and connects with the world around them. Today, we take a moment to recognise and celebrate the strengths, perspectives, and voices of autistic people across our communities.
In Australia, around 1 in 40 people are on the autism spectrum, and over 214,000 NDIS participants identify autism as their primary disability.
Yet, understanding still has a way to go—45% of Australians say they have a limited understanding of autism (YouGov/SBS, 2025).
At Lumia Care, we walk alongside autistic participants, their families, and support networks every day. We know that small steps—listening, learning, and being open to different ways of thinking—can lead to meaningful, lasting change.
We're reminded today that awareness is just the beginning. Real inclusion happens when we value the unique perspectives of autistic people, challenge our assumptions, and create environments where everyone can thrive. By embracing neurodiversity, we move closer to a more compassionate and connected world.
