Here’s a poem for you, and a new member of my tiny books of poetry collection. Opening with the amazing line “you wake the dead to life”, it’s written by Rumi and translated by Haleh Liza Gafori.

I’ve made this in thanks to the wonderful people and non-people and my beloved tarot cards who magically crossed my path and inspired me this year!

They taught me Grace, Passion, Love, Joy, Freedom, Friendship, Generosity, Kindness, Sovereignty, Wisdom+Practice, Discernment, Inner Authority, and All.

At this turning of a new year, may this gorgeous poem along with All these beautiful essential life-giving things be with you!

Meet Fia, the exquisite hanging nest.

Native to a willow tree, Fia was once a wreath. Under the promise of creative renewal and the magical spell of transformation, wreath-Fia unfurls in the gentle, steady, deep ~ breaths of water, slowly, surely, and freely ~ into twig-Fia.

Twig-Fia is yielding but not submissive, trusting but not gullible. Twig-Fia defies universities (yes, even the wide open, electric, big and wild University of YouTube), but sits fully in the maker’s hand, so firmly insisting on and resting into sturdiness, while chanting blessings of chaos:

Holding space… small turn big curve… weaving in and out… listen, feel, play, and repeat.

Satisfyingly and gracefully, Fia takes form of a nest and departs the maker’s hand, giving off sweet scents of spring, and calling to hang with the unfinished grass cordage.

Yes,
Life continues

Branches dense like a mountain
Countless clusters of mini white flowers upon thousands
Tender little hands of baby
Round red berries turning

Concepts are just thinks
We don’t do thinks just
Quietly plait wishes along a May Tree branch
Daring
To make

Wishes
For everything
Healing of old wounds
Growing of soft hearts
Flourishing of creative joys

That is
Everything

For us
Riches with The May
