Hawthorn Plastic Surgery - Mr Hamish Farrow

Hawthorn Plastic Surgery - Mr Hamish Farrow *Cosmetic and Reconstructive Breast surgery HAMISH FARROW-M.B.B.S. F.R.A.C.S. Plastic Surgeon

Hamish is a little different from other plastic surgeons.

He only does breast surgery. It is what he loves, thinks, breathes. He works with teenagers born with breast or chest wall abnormalities through to 90 year old women with breast cancers, women with asymmetries to ni**le inversions and everything in between. From breast augmentation with implants, to reducing overly generous breasts, all of Hamish’s patients want the same things: a shape and size that suits them, a comfortable and balanced sense of proportions, and the ease that comes from being happy with your body. As a ‘super-specialist’ in one area of surgery, Hamish keeps at the forefront of developments in the area of breast surgery. He is invited to talk at national meetings about his work, and runs a group to bring together Melbourne plastic surgeons with a specific interest in breast to share ideas and keep up with current trends. He is heavily involved in breast cancer reconstruction, and research into cancer prevention, and patient and nursing education in this important area of medicine. It all adds up to experience and expertise. In plastic surgery of the breast – Hamish has it.

Cosmetic surgeons have become social media stars with followers in the millions. But behind the glitz and glamour lie some ugly truths. On M...

Considering cosmetic surgery? – Here's why you should choose a Specialist Plastic Surgeon.
Making a decision to undertake cosmetic surgery should never be undertaken lightly.
“Unlike a new hairstyle, cosmetic surgery is a permanent change to your appearance and is not risk-free. That’s why taking time to research your choice of surgeon may be the best investment you make,” advises Dr Dan Kennedy, President of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
“It may also help consumers avoid the adverse outcomes, that, tragically, too many Australians have experienced from botched surgeries, cardiac episodes and even death.”
In Australia, anyone with a basic medical degree can perform cosmetic surgery without undergoing specialist surgical training and assessment accredited by the Australian Medical Council (AMC), the body that has oversight over all medical practitioners in Australia.

This week we held a very successful information evening for those patients interested in learning more on BIA-ALCL
We had a full house and very good response from everybody who attended.
It's important to keep our patients in the loop with the current guidelines also.
Thanks to all those who attended.

Hamish runs a collaborative forum for Melbourne based surgeons with a specific interest in plastic surgery of the breasts.
In response from the media interest in textured implants and their link to BIA-ALCL, this was a hot topic at the very successful meeting last week. There were 21 surgeons, exchanging information, thoughts and current known facts surrounding the topic, being guided by TGA recommendations.
It's one way to keep surgeons working in this area up to date.
