As I set out on my long journey to becoming a qualified Nutritionist (6 years part time at Uni to gain a BSc Nutrition & Dietetics from the UoW), I thought I would create this forum where I can share insights and knowledge that I gain along the way with my friends/family/cients and seek their advice/input/feedback. I have always been interested in health and wellbeing and the role that nutrition plays. I was brought up eating home-cooked, unprocessed, balanced meals by a busy working mother. Only now that I have become a mother myself do I really appreciate the huge effort that takes. I believe that good nutrition is preventative medicine and I invest in my health by investing in organic and quality food. I was rarely sick as a child and my two children have had very few trips to the Doctors office in their short lifetimes. I also believe that the tide is turning away from prescriptive medicine - people want to take control of their health issues, not just be prescribed drugs to mask the symptoms. There is not a single day of nutrition or exercise science in the curriculum of medical studies, yet I believe more and more GPs are turning to nutritionists and naturopaths to help find a solution to chronic cases of illnesses that they have been unable to treat with pharmaceuticals alone. There is a worldwide increased demand for integrative medicine and that is what I would strive to achieve right here in my hometown on the NSW south coast in Australia. My vision is for an integrated medical practice where GPs work side-by-side on a referral basis with nutrition and natural medicine experts and I reckon by the time I qualify in 6 years, The Burgh will be ready for it!!! Thanks for reading, I hope you find some of the posts on this page valuable and worth sharing.

Removing foods from your diet does not mean removing flavour. Try some of these delicious oat and banana pancakes this weekend. They reheat well, they also freeze well. To reheat I just pop them in the toaster. They are also a great addition to children's lunchboxes 😋 https://www.sharonhespe.com.au/oat-and-banana-pancakes/

NEW RECIPE⎮ Chocolate Caramel Muesli Bar
I have a sneaking suspicion this weeks new recipe is going to be popular based on my kids reaction to these. Because let's face it, who doesn't like chocolate + caramel.

They are quick and easy to make, nut-free, egg-free with variations for gluten and dairy-free. Plus they freeze well making them perfect for the occasional school lunchbox treat.

Here's the recipe, I hope you love them https://wellnourished.com.au/chocolate-caramel-muesli-bar/
