What is Reiki?

The word Reiki is written with 2 Japanese kanji (kanji means Chinese characters used in the Japanese writing system). These kanji mean “spiritual energy”. Reiki is the source energy that each of us carries within us. Reiki healing is a holistic approach that aims to restore balance to the whole being, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
A Reiki treatment is not intrusive and clients do not remove clothing and no private parts of the body are touched. During a reiki session a client sits or lies down fully clothed. The practitioner accesses energy and channels it through a series of gentle hand placements along the client’s body to activate the natural healing processes, dissolve energy blockages and relieve stress. The practitioner works to enable healing where and how it is needed.
Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment, but it can reinforce the effects of medical treatment or help to tolerate them better. The Cancer Council lists Reiki as a Complementary Therapy which is calming and relaxing, often helping to relieve pain and anxiety, reduce stiffness and improve posture.
If a client is wishing to work on a specific issue or health problem, it is advisable to book for three one-hour treatments. But first come along for one treatment to see if you like the experience.

All our treatments and massages are performed by an Advanced Reiki Master Teacher and practitioner of traditional Reiki Usui Ryoho, qualified ayurvedic massage therapist and energetic therapist.
