We are open today (Monday 29 December), Tuesday 30 December, Wednesday 31 December, and Friday 2 January.

We still have availability with both our doctors and nursing team this week.
For nursing appointments, Tuesday and Wednesday are the best days to book, with the most availability.

🎓 A huge congratulations to Dr Nadiesh Seneviratne 🎓

We’re proud to share that Dr Nadiesh Seneviratne graduated over the weekend with a Master of Medicine (Skin Cancer) from the University of Queensland — a significant academic and clinical achievement.

This postgraduate qualification involves advanced training in the early detection, diagnosis and management of skin cancer, including melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. It focuses on dermoscopy, thorough skin assessments, biopsy decision-making, and evidence-based management.

Dr Nadiesh also has extensive hands-on experience in skin cancer surgery, including biopsies, excisions, and more complex procedures such as skin flaps and grafts.

He is now one of only a very small number of doctors in Hervey Bay with this level of dedicated postgraduate training in skin cancer medicine.

Dr Nadiesh is currently welcoming patients for:

☀️ Skin cancer surgery, including flaps and grafts

We’re proud to share an important milestone for heart health in Australia — and for our local Hervey Bay community. ❤️🇦🇺

Main Street Medical Centre & Skin Clinic was one of 160 general practices across Australia selected to participate in the Heart Foundation’s Text to Detect National Heart Health Check Recall program — one of the largest cardiovascular screening trials delivered in general practice.

The findings have now been published in the Lancet Primary Care Journal, highlighting how a simple SMS recall system can support early detection and prevention of heart disease. 💬❤️

Following the success of this trial program, it will now be rolled out across Australia. 🌏✨

📊 What the program achieved (national results)

Across all participating practices nationwide:
- More than 70,000 eligible patients received an SMS invitation to book a Heart Health Check.
- Patients who received an SMS recall and a follow-up reminder were up to 15× more likely to attend their GP for a Medicare
Heart Health Check compared with those who received no message.
-There was an increase in the recording of key risk factors such as blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes measures.
-Larger practices also recorded an increase in appropriate cholesterol medication prescribing.

These outcomes reflect the national impact of the program, demonstrating how simple, timely reminders can support earlier detection of heart disease.

We are incredibly proud to have contributed to research that strengthens preventive care in general practice — especially for regional communities like ours. 🌿
