💡💙World Lymphoedema Day💙💡

Today we recognise and support the many people living with lymphoedema — a chronic condition that causes ongoing swelling and requires lifelong management. For many, it develops after cancer treatment, surgery, injury, or other health conditions, yet it is often under-recognised and misunderstood.

With the right care, education, and support, people with lymphoedema can successfully manage their symptoms and maintain a good quality of life. Raising awareness helps promote earlier diagnosis, better access to treatment, and stronger support for those affected.

📍At Delta Occupational Therapy in Hervey Bay, we are committed to providing dedicated lymphoedema assessment, treatment, and self-management support. Contact us at info@deltatherapy.com.au

Let’s continue to raise awareness, share knowledge, and support those living with lymphoedema. 💙

💙 Lymphoedema Awareness Week 2-6 March 💙
Did you know swelling that lasts more than a few weeks is not “just fluid” and shouldn’t be ignored?

02/03/2026

Lymphoedema Awareness Week begins today.

This week, we come together under one shared purpose. Improving outcomes for people living with lymphatic health conditions.

In 2026, Lymphoedema Awareness Week highlights Lymphoedema Care in Practice - shining a spotlight on the breadth, depth and diversity of lymphoedema care delivered across Australasia.

Under the theme ‘United in Care. Diverse in Practice.’, this year’s campaign recognises the highly trained and accredited professionals working across a wide range of roles, settings and specialties. While our practice environments and focus areas may vary, we are united by a shared commitment.

Different roles. Different pathways. One commitment to best practice care.

We encourage all members to proudly display the Lymphoedema Awareness Week 2026 poster (arriving imminently, if not already in your mailbox) within your workplace, clinic, hospital or university setting, and to repost/share our social media graphics on your platform.

Displaying the poster and sharing the social media graphic is a simple but powerful way to:

• Raise awareness of lymphoedema care
• Highlight your professional role
• Start important conversations within your workplace and community

United in Care. Diverse in Practice.

💙 Lymphoedema Awareness Week 2- 8 March 2026 💙

This week we shine a light on lymphoedema — a chronic condition that causes swelling and requires ongoing management.

Early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and education can make a significant difference to comfort, mobility, and quality of life.

If you or someone you know is living with swelling, know that support and effective management options are available.

Let’s raise awareness, share knowledge, and support those living with lymphoedema. 💙

Turning the tide on swollen feet and legs.

Turning the tide on swollen feet and legs.

Swollen feet and legs should never be dismissed as “just one of those things.”
Persistent, unexplained lower limb swelling can lead to infection, chronic wounds and long-term health complications if left untreated. With summer heat, travel, disrupted routines and dehydration all contributing to worsening symptoms, now is the time to talk about it.
Today, 19 February 2026, the ALA is proud to support national Beat the Swell Day, led by Wounds Australia - with ALA President, Kath Turner sitting on the panel of the flagship event, being hosted this evening.
Beat the Swell is an annual opportunity to raise awareness about:
• the causes of lower limb swelling
• the risks of leaving swelling untreated
• prevention and early detection
• effective, evidence-based treatment
The day brings together professional learning for clinicians and practical education for consumers, because awareness is the first step toward better outcomes.

BEAT THE SWELL

In this interview with 9News aired on 14 January, Rockhampton-based lymphoedema expert Stacey Bradshaw and patient David Vickers explore lower limb swelling, and the challenges of finding appropriate help - especially in regional Australia.

Too many Australians think leg, ankle and foot swelling is 'normal', especially in summer, and just something that has to be lived with. At Wounds Australia, we say it doesn't have to be this way! In February 2026, we're launching National Beat the Swell Day, putting lower limb swelling under the spotlight and teaching the nation when and where to seek the essential help they need to prevent the problem from becoming chronic.

If you're a consumer worried about lower limb swelling, you'll find resources and sources of support on our website. And clinicians can enjoy a range of professional development, including events around the country, on Thursday 19 February and beyond. Find it all at woundaware.org

Thank you to 9News for covering this important story.
