Thank you to all of our wonderful patients who joined us in donating to our amazing local fire brigade Geelong West Fire Brigade and your show of supprt for Dr Catherine who is an active fire fighter with the Brigade. Thank you for all your sacrifice, hard work and dedication to protect us.

The brigade would like to thank Family Doctors Highton who collected donations for the brigade and raised $118.15. Thanks to the staff and patients of Family Doctors Highton for their support and fundraising. Pictured below is one of our members who is a Dr at the clinic.

Shingles... no... it doesn't mean the roof.

It is a painful rash caused by the same chicken pox virus you had which has been lying quiet in your body.

🔥 burning, tingling or itching on the skin
🔆 sensitivity to light
🤕 headache
💢 a rash or blisters usually on one side of the body or face.

In some cases it can affect your eyes, hearing and your lungs.

Shingles is a serious illness in older adults, people who are pregnant and those with weak immunity.

GOOD NEWS!! There are Government Funded vaccines if you are:

👉 people aged 65 years and over
👉 First Nations people aged 50 years and over, and
👉 immunocompromised people aged 18 years and over with eligible medical conditions.

Talk to our wonderful GPs if you think you may have shingles or would like to find out more about getting vaccinated.

Dr Janny is a burst of sunshine! She is a capable and wonderful GP Registrar whom we are very blessed to work with for the next 6 months.

To become a GP in Australia, a Doctor must Specialise in General Practice and be accepted into the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. RACGP

While a Doctor is specialising, they must fulfil a diversity component in their training, which is why Dr Janny is with us.

Family Doctors Highton is an Accredited Teaching Practice with fully qualified Medical Educators (Dr Ern, Dr Catherine and Dr Yota). We believe in training our next generation of GPs for the good of our community.

Please join us in our vision and hard work to ensure the security of General Practice in Australia by making our Registrars feel very welcome.
