Today is International Nurses Day. This special day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. The theme for this year's IND is 'Nurses – A Voice to Lead'.
Our friends at the Australian Primary Healthcare Nurses Association (APNA) sent us a lovely card with some great messages about nursing.
Included was a quote from Dr. Pamela Cipriano, the President of the International Council of Nurses (ICN) that read:
"Nurses have suffered tremendously through the pandemic. They have been unnecessarily exposed to the virus, faced attacks from the public, suffered from extreme workloads, and continue to be underpaid and undervalued.
If governments continue to put off investing in the health workforce, it will be to the detriment of health systems everywhere. There is no health without a healthy workforce."
APNA added a very positive note to all nurses:
'We see you. We value you and we respect you'.
Here's to all the amazing nurses who have helped to guide us through the challenges of the global pandemic and continue to work so hard to look after others.
Oooh. I wonder what this is? It’s from APNA - Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association. For International Nurses Day, which of course is tomorrow…

NEW EXTENDED HOURS
From Monday May 16, we will be changing hours so that we are open later on Mondays and Wednesdays until 8:00pm.
This is to assist our clients who are unable to attend from 9:00 to 5:00 due to work or other commitments.
We're hopeful this will be more flexible and create more options for everyone. This also means that we will be closed for all appointments on Tuesdays.
For bookings, please call Pritchard Health on 0422 466 222.

Pritchard Health is a specialist mental health service dedicated to the needs of our local community. We support GP’s and psychiatrists in Primary Care and work with individuals, couples, families, schools and children.
We are Geelong’s first nurse-led clinic and the business is owned and operated by Sian Pritchard. Sian is a Nurse Practitioner (NP) with a Masters Degree in Nursing Practice (Nurse Practitioner) from Deakin University. She is passionate about making a difference in her chosen field and her specialist skills and extended university training allow her to lead the way in creating better short and long-term mental health outcomes.
Anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, drug and alcohol abuse and su***de affect a large number of Australians. With the right team behind you, getting well and staying well is achievable. We understand that brains and bodies don’t work separately. So we build a team that matches your individual mental and physical healthcare needs. It’s not a one-size-fits-all model.
We have an exceptional team of highly qualified practitioners here at Pritchard Health and we are all here for one purpose: to help you. Our range of professional health services gives you a number of options that assist with your recovery goals and support you during times of crisis and transition.
Importantly, we come from an evidence-based background. All of our nurses have Postgraduate Degrees, qualifying them in a number of specialist areas. As nurses, we focus on you as a whole person in the context of family, work and other commitments.
Year after year, nurses are rated as Australia’s most trusted profession. In 2017, 94% of Australians (up 2% from 2016) rated nurses as ‘very high’ or ‘high’ for their ‘ethics and honesty’. Nurses have topped the annual survey for 23 years running since being included for the first time in 1994*.
We genuinely care about the wellbeing of the people that come through our doors and we are here to make a difference. We’re here for you.
