This month at my practice Brave Heart Wellbeing, I introduced monthly yoga and meditation sessions at work.

It’s something I’ve chosen to offer as a business – one hour per month for a gentle flow, guided meditation and a moment to disconnect from the busyness of life. There’s no expectation to join, just an open invitation to pause and breathe.

I’ve decided these sessions will be fully covered by the business, because I see it as investment – not just in my team’s wellbeing, but in the work we do together.
It might seem like a small thing – just an hour here or there – but I’ve learned that sometimes it’s the small things that make the biggest difference.

Thank you to for the wonderful session!

- Michelle

Although many view adolescence as totally carefree, teenage life features many of the stressors of adult life. If you're a teen, you might be struggling to keep your grades up and consider universities while managing a part-time job, sports and a social life.

These days, both parents and kids can feel pressure to participate in a variety of activities. While participating in multiple activities can enrich a child's life, it can also make them feel stressed and pressured in an unhealthy way. It is possible for a child to be too busy and as a parent, it is our responsibility to make sure our children achieve a healthy balance.

Mental Health Month is a reminder that mental health is the foundation of how we live, learn, love, and connect. From the pressures at work to school struggles, from childhood experiences to friendship dynamics — our mental wellbeing is shaped by many interconnected factors.

At Brave Heart Wellbeing, we see and support the whole person — children, adolescents, and adults alike — helping you build emotional resilience, better relationships, and practical coping strategies.

💚 Whether it's your child navigating big feelings...
💚 Your teen facing peer pressure and identity challenges...
💚 Or you're an adult juggling life, work, and everyone else’s needs but your own...

You don’t have to do it alone. Let’s talk about mental health — without shame, without silence.

Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.

As adults, we often prioritise family and work above our own wellbeing but it is important to remember:

You cannot pour from an empty cup, take care of yourself too!

Last week, the Brave Heart Wellbeing team had the pleasure of participating in the 2025 Family Day — a beautiful event filled with joy, connection, and acts of kindness.

Kindness isn’t just something we give; it’s something we feel. Being kind boosts mental wellbeing, reduces stress, strengthens relationships, and even supports heart health. Events like these remind us how small acts of compassion can create a ripple effect of positivity and healing in our communities.

We’re grateful to have been part of such a meaningful day. 💛

Adolescence is a crucial period for developing and maintaining social and emotional habits important for mental well-being.

Understanding these factors and exploring strategies on how to manage challenges can assist the individual and families to cope during this period.

The more risk factors adolescents are exposed to, the greater the potential impact on their mental health.

Brave Heart Wellbeing - Supporting young people by building strength and resilience for coping with life’s tough times.

Brave Heart Wellbeing is all about helping young people (5-25) and their support networks - including parents - to assist in learning, understanding and supporting others with mental health challenges.

The focus of Brave Heart Wellbeing is on building strength and resilience and early intervention strategies for coping with life stressors and symptoms associated with anxiety and depression. It includes workshops, group programs, one on one psychological services and counselling. Group programs incorporate fitness classes, as well as talk therapy in a supportive and non-judgemental space.

Brave Heart Wellbeing proudly presents the ‘Standing Strong’ Program with a range of classes and workshops available from Term 4 2019.
