Meghan had the good fortune of growing up within the yoga tradition. Her mom, Peg, being a long time practitioner, and first teacher, allowed Meghan the opportunity to come on and off the mat as often as she wanted from a young age. Over time, she developed her own passion for diving deep into the internal experiences of daily āsana, mantra, and meditation. As a student of her mentor and teacher, Dena Kingsberg, Meghan continues to cultivate a deeper appreciation and knowledge of classical Indian philosophy and a devotion for the profound, multi-faceted experience that is Ashtanga yoga. She finds herself lucky to teach alongside Peg Mulqueen, sharing the practice of yoga to students globally through Ashtanga Dispatch. As well as in her current home of Tasmania, where she teaches regular Ashtanga classes. You can also find her occasionally in Byron Bay, assisting her teacher.

Hi friends!

Just in case you missed the newsletter, here’s what’s happening over the next few months…

✨ I will be away November 17-27th, however, classes will continue in my absence with assistant, Katie Nawarth, holding the space steady.

✨ Regular Mysore classes at the Hobart Breathing Space will be paused for the summer for a little holiday rest and recharge starting December 1st. They will resume in February.

BUT! We’ve got one last intensive for the year…

🔥 Ashtanga Mysore Intensive | December 10-14th, 6-8am at
This will be include 5 mornings of meditation, pranayama, chanting, and Mysore-style practice. We will conclude with community gathering over coffee. All practitioners, beginning or experienced, are welcome to join.

Join Meghan for five mornings beginning with stillness, conscious breathing, and chanting, followed by Ashtanga Mysore-style practice. All classes are held within a small, intimate group, offering personalized support and guidance. With a teaching approach that is inclusive and encouraging, Meghan holds space for students to cultivate deeper internal listening and exploration.

What to expect?
✨ We will begin our mornings with a guided meditation and simple prāṇāyāma.
✨ Chanting will include the recitation of selected Yoga Sūtras with an interpretation, dipping our toes into the water of this text of self-inquiry and transformation.
✨ We will continue into Mysore-style self-practice, where you will receive support and guidance to deepen your practice.
✨ After our last class, please join for a community gathering of coffee or tea at the market.

This intensive welcomes all practitioners, beginning and experienced. All that's required is an open mind and curiosity.

I’m excited to share that I will be teaching another Mysore intensive at Udara! Join me for five mornings of pranayama, chanting, and Mysore-style Ashtanga practice. Space is limited — cultivating an intimate setting for personalized guidance. This intensive welcomes all practitioners, beginning and experienced.

Cost: $150

September schedule update!

Join Meghan for a pop-up week of Ashtanga Yoga September 3rd-7th at the Hobart Breathing Space.

Monday - Saturday will be 4 mornings of Mysore-style practice. Sunday will begin with meditation and chanting followed by a conducted Primary Series. It will end with coffee as a community. ☕️

This is a beautiful opportunity to either begin, reestablish, or deepen your practice with personalised guidance over five days.

🌱 New students are always welcome but must book in for all 5 mornings.

✨ Wednesday to Saturday: Mysore Practice
✨ Sunday: Mediation, chanting, and a Led Primary Series
✨All mornings are 6-8am at the Hobart Breathing Space

IMPORTANT: There will be no regularly scheduled Mysore classes September 1st-19th. Only the September 3rd-7th classes will be running during this time.

Four years ago, life was very different.

Studios had shut down, classes were still cancelled or had moved online, and Tasmania’s borders hadn’t even opened to the mainland yet. It was the height of the pandemic. Mark and I had just moved from Byron Bay to Hobart—and we knew absolutely no one.

It was then I had the (brilliant? ridiculous?) idea to start an Ashtanga yoga community.

Four years ago this week, I began hosting in-person classes. During a pandemic. For a while there, I wasn’t even sure they would survive! Some of you might remember when it was just you in the room.

You know, most of the time I’m usually focused on what’s ahead—what’s next, what needs planning, listing out the future goals. Maybe you’re like that too.

But sometimes, it’s really nice to take a moment to look back at just how far we’ve come and celebrate what we’ve accomplished.

Because building a community from scratch? I didn’t quite grasp just how hard and how long it takes until I did it myself. You will need perseverance, devotion, and an unwavering sense of purpose.

Not too unlike a yoga practice, right?

And when I say what “we’ve accomplished” – I mean it.

It couldn’t have been done without you.

So—thank you.

If you’ve joined a retreat, sent a message, practiced online, or even just sent good vibes this way—thank you.

If you’re part of this Ashtanga Hobart community, happy anniversary! Celebrate what we’ve created over these four years. 🥳
