This is Peter. 😎

Two weeks ago, on Valentine’s Day, he had a radical prostatectomy. 💘

“My GP first picked up a problem when I asked for a PSA test. He asked me why I wanted one – I looked at him and replied that I believe in science. 💪

“My results were unusual, with a free to total PSA ratio that landed me in a risk group. I very quickly did my homework on what that meant. Testing and retesting resulted in a consultation with a trusted urologist, who recommended an MRI. 🤞

“The MRI picked up a spot on the outer peripheral of my prostate and a transperineal biopsy confirmed the diagnosis – Gleason 7, Stage 2C, intermediate risk. 😬

“I saw a surgeon and radiation oncologist about treatment. My options were RP surgery or MRLinac radiation. Both incredibly good treatments.

"At the core of my being, I didn’t want to risk erectile dysfunction if I went through with surgery, but I bit the bullet and booked a radical prostatectomy. 🙏

“Five days before the op, my mind was going crazy. The day before I was at peak panic. I told myself I had to nail my anxiety to the floor and command rationality. 💯

“My immediate family, along with a supportive surgeon and radiation oncologist helped enormously. ✊

“Tomorrow will be two weeks post-surgery. Early indications are that 95% of my nerves have been spared and my continence concerns have been relatively minor so should correct soon – you can bet I’m doing those pelvic floor exercises. 🤠

“My advice to other men is to get active, talk to your mates and pull your head out of the sand. Once you enter planet prostate you’re in a whole different orbit and you need to get your proverbial sh*t together to beat it. 😎

“At first I didn’t tell my friends and family. I was protecting them and protecting myself. All of us are just doing the best we can, but I’ll say one thing – staying connected counts for a lot.”

"Get your GP to test you if you are eligible and get to a Urologist." ❤️

Cheers for being a champion Peter - and here's to a strong recovery. 💙✊

Australia has lost one of its best lifeguards, following the death of Bondi Rescue's Terry McDermott from prostate cancer. 💔

A lifeguard of 30 years, he saved countless lives throughout his career. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2020 and confronted the disease with characteristic strength and courage. He will be greatly missed between the flags on Bondi Beach and by all who knew him.

Our heartfelt condolences to his wife Joanna and his son Matt.

Gone too soon, loved forever. 💙

Rest In Peace Terry.

This man fits our definition of a Goodfella.

He was diagnosed with prostate cancer at age 60 and celebrated 18 years in the clear this year.

De Niro credits his good health to ground-breaking research and treatment, and most importantly, early detection.

“Regular exams allowed me to deal with this problem early and make a full recovery,” De Niro said recently, “I am a prostate cancer survivor and a spokesman for prevention. Men should have regular prostate examinations!”

This Christmas, we’re talkin’ to you. Do yourself a favour and get a PSA test.

This guy’s a Rocket Man.

He was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2017 and had a prostatectomy not long after.

In his memoir, he writes that the surgery was a complete success, until 10 days later when he noticed something wasn’t quite right.

“It turned out that I had a rare complication from the operation.” He spent 11 days in hospital, lying awake at night “wondering if I was going to die”.

“In the hospital, alone at the dead of night, I’d prayed: please don’t let me die, please let me see my kids again, please give me a little longer.”

Today, he’s doing great, thanks to the progress we’ve made in treating and beating prostate cancer.

Many of you know how it feels to lie awake at night and wonder, and that’s why we’re here.

Because we want you to be here for a long long time.

PAUL Harriss was not expecting his prostate cancer journey to start off as a “blip” to be further explored, to then “skyrocket” to include metastasis of his skeletal system.
