📣📣 Calling parents, speechies and teachers in Tassie!

Do you have a child or student who is struggling to connect letters to sounds, sound out simple words or build reading fluency? Are they losing confidence and showing signs of distress or frustration? Have you tried a number of interventions with limited success?

The Read3 program was designed for these children. It is based on gold-standard international research into children who ‘fail to respond’ to quality phonics instruction.

If you want to know more about Read3, join us for a FREE information evening.

Thursday 18 May
6:00-7:00pm
Kingston, TAS, 7050

This workshop is intended for people who have attended an Introductory LAMP workshop and want to learn more about the LAMP (Language Acquisition Through Motor Planning) method. Peter Hockley (LAMP trainer and Speech Pathologist) will take you through how to customise the LAMP vocabulary and tailor its development to the needs of your clients. Data logging and Realize Language Analysis options will be demonstrated to show how LAMP progress can be recorded and represented over time. By reviewing the key components of LAMP there will be an opportunity to problem solve how the method can be adapted for people with complex sensory and motor planning needs. This workshop is suitable for anyone who has previously completed an Introductory Workshop.

If you teach, provide therapy or are a parent or caregiver of a child with literacy difficulties, we urge you to read this paper and sign the petition supporting greater accountability regarding the implementation of literacy supports in Tasmania. Teachers deserve evidence based information and training in order to do their jobs effectively.

WE'RE ANGRY TOO...We encourage you to read Marshall Roberts' (the angry farmer) paper and support his petition for greater scrutiny and accountability regarding engagement of consultants within the DoE to ensure that these providers align with the advice of the independent body that was created specifically to evaluate the available research pertinent to education - Australian Education Research Organisation...makes sense to us!

Pete's conversation with an adult AAC user on Thursday, when his client asked him to show him a toy that he had been using with a Paediatric client earlier in the day.

Pete: What's wrong?
Client: frustrated.
Pete: Why are you frustrated?
Client: The bendy cactus is writhing around foolishly

This client definitely has a way with words!
