Today we acknowledge the 16th anniversary of the National Apology to Forgotten Australians and Former Child Migrants, first delivered in 2009.
The National Apology recognised the deep harm suffered by Australian-born children and child migrants who were placed in institutional care, acknowledging the neglect, abuse and the lasting impact of being denied love, family and belonging.
This year, our remembrance carries special meaning as we come together to officially unveil the new Forgotten Australians Memorial at Tolosa Park, Glenorchy.
Created in partnership with Glenorchy City Council, the memorial is a place of healing and reflection, shaped by the voices of Forgotten Australians.
