This week we recognise Multiple Birth Awareness Week and celebrate the incredible families welcoming twins, triplets and more into the world.

Feeding more than one baby can feel overwhelming at first, but with the right support it is absolutely possible to breastfeed multiples. Many families successfully breastfeed twins β€” and even triplets β€” with a little guidance, preparation and encouragement.

A few things parents of multiples often find helpful:
🀍 Your body can produce enough milk for more than one baby
🀍 Feeding together (tandem feeding) can save time and help stimulate milk supply
🀍 Skin-to-skin contact supports milk production and bonding
🀍 Early support from a lactation consultant can make a huge difference

Every feeding journey is unique, and families of multiples deserve compassionate, evidence-based support as they navigate feeding two (or more!) babies.

If you're expecting multiples or finding feeding challenging after birth, please know you are not alone β€” support is available.

✨ Supporting families, one feed at a time.

I am incredibly proud to be an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Working with families at one of the most vulnerable and transformative times in their lives is truly a privilege. The early days of parenthood can feel overwhelming, emotional, and uncertain β€” and to be invited into that space to offer guidance, reassurance and evidence-based support is something I never take for granted.

Every family I meet reminds me why I do this work.

Supporting mothers and babies as they learn to feed, connect and grow together is not just my profession β€” it is an honour.

Babies show us early, mid and late cues that they are hungry. The best time to latch them to the breast is just as they are stirring or moving their hand to their mouth, rooting around. If baby is crying and agitated, this is a late sign they are hungry. We know many babies can go from 0-100 very quickly! its important to calm them down before attempting to feed. You can do this by placing them upright on your chest, letting them suck on your finger or stroke their head & calmly talk to them. Once they have settled then move them gently down to the breast to start breastfeeding.
