This time of year is often hectic. Shopping lists, social commitments, work or study deadlines… it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Easy to overlook your own wellbeing.

Small daily actions, even ones we’re already doing, can have big ongoing benefits – especially when we’re present in the moment.

Do you feel a sense of calm with that first sip of morning coffee? Try drinking it without reading the news or multitasking – just sit in a comfortable spot, close your eyes for a minute, and savour that coffee. ☕️

When we pause to notice what makes us feel good, we get better at prioritising our wellbeing. So, give yourself permission to take a minute, even on the busiest days.

You don't need a complete life overhaul to transform your mental wellbeing!

When you take a few deep breaths, you're calming your nervous system and telling your body it's safe. When you step outside and feel the sun or hear the birds, you're grounding yourself in the present moment. When you pause to notice what you're grateful for, you're training your brain to spot the good stuff more easily. ✨

While each small action might feel minor in the moment, they stack up! Day after day, these tiny habits create new neural pathways, shift your emotional baseline, and build a foundation of wellbeing that can carry you through tougher times. 🌱

What small actions will you be doing this week to build a big impact? Maybe it's three deep breaths before your morning coffee, a 5-minute walk at lunch, or jotting down one good thing before bed.

Summer is almost here, but the weather at this time of year? Completely unpredictable. It's a perfect reminder that some things are simply beyond our control… and that's okay!

💡 Focus on what you can control: packing an umbrella or sunscreen, choosing your outlook, how you respond.

💡 Let go of what you can't: the weather, other people's reactions, unexpected changes.

Identify your sphere of control, act there, and let the rest go.

Our Sponsor Spotlight today is on the Take a minute. Mental Health and Wellbeing Award! This category celebrates young Tasmanians who are champions of proactive and preventative mental health, focusing on strengths to boost wellbeing before problems arise. 🧠💪

Here's why Take a minute is proud to sponsor this award:

"We wanted to highlight the incredible work young people across Tasmania are doing to support mental health and wellbeing. They deserve recognition—not just for their achievements, but to inspire others to make a difference in their own communities."

They emphasise that young people are leading change right now:

"Across Tassie, young people are stepping up, going above and beyond, and leading change. Celebrating their efforts provides visibility and momentum, so they can build on their work and continue to make an impact."

They are excited for the 2026 Awards: "We’re excited to see the next wave of passionate young Tasmanians being recognised... Every year brings new stories of innovation, resilience, and leadership. We can’t wait to be in that room again!"

Reflecting on presenting the award, they shared: "The energy in the room on the night was amazing! It was an honour to announce the winner and celebrate Emma’s incredible commitment... But more than that, it was inspiring to be surrounded by so many exceptional young Tasmanians and to celebrate all of their achievements."

Do you know a young Tassie leader who is making a positive impact on mental health and wellbeing in their community? Give them the recognition they deserve!
