✨ Kirtan For a Cause ✨

All proceeds go to Food for Life Vrindavan

Join our amazing teacher Sandy and Keith from , who are co-hosts of the Not Just Āsana podcast (and wonderful friends!) for a special afternoon of sacred sound where YOU make the music.

Kirtan is the practice of devotional singing, often in Sanskrit, the ‘language of manifestation’.

Keith and Sandy will lead you in ancient songs and chants designed to uplift the participant to a higher state of consciousness.

You do not have to be a trained musician or ‘have a great voice’; all that’s required is an open heart and the willingness to be part of something very special.

Udara is sponsoring this event and donating our beautiful Flow room to help support this wonderful cause.

Keith is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, Director of BIJA Yoga Penrith and the Creator and Lead Facilitator of BIJA Yoga Teacher-Training.

Sandy is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Yoga Teacher, Creator and Lead Facilitator of Golden Yoga School Teacher-Training and an amazing teacher with us at the studio.

Both Keith and Sandy love kirtan and have led it for many decades between them.

Two new reformer classes are here at ✨✨

Reformer Foundations (Sundays 3pm, fortnightly for now - but likely to move to weekly given so many of you want to try and have been asking for this!) is your friendly, no-pressure intro to reformer Pilates. Tomorrow’s first class is fully booked, but jump on the waitlist if you’d love to try.

Reformer Restore (Sundays 4pm, fortnightly but again, if you love, we’ll switch to weekly) is stretch-focused active recovery with breathwork + gentle flow.

There are still spaces left for tomorrow’s Restore at 4pm, so jump into your Momence app, or the schedule on our website and we’d love to see you there 💛

We are so very blessed to have senior teacher and teacher trainer bringing in their harmonium for final 2025 classes tonight, and tomorrow morning (6.30am heated class) at Udara.

We are so very lucky to have such an experienced Jivamukti teacher guiding our classes, and to flow and chant with Sandy is a treat like no other.

We invite those who wish to farewell the year at tomorrow morning’s 6.30am heated class to join Sandy after class finishes for a special chanting practice to close out 2025. Flow, and then chant together to close out the year.

We’re looking for a very special human… ✨

Someone who sees beauty in small details.

Who finds peace in calm spaces.

And who delights in quietly tending to sacred places.

We’re looking for a special human (18+) to join us as a studio support and space holder at Udara. A Studio Guardian.

Read our carousel as to why this isn’t a karma yogi program (spoiler alert - they’re usually illegal) but a paid, casual role where you’ll help us keep our beloved studio feeling beautiful, welcoming, and held.

This role is perfect for someone who:

🌿 Feels connected to the idea of space as sanctuary
🕯️ Enjoys tending to physical spaces and keeping them calm and cared for
🌸 Is self-directed and comfortable working solo between classes but under supervision + direction
🌈 Takes initiative and sees what needs doing (before being asked)
📚 Might be a uni student, recent school leaver, or someone simply looking to be part of a mindful and nurturing environment.

It’s a casual role for a few hours, once or twice a week - with the flexibility to work around your life/study/other work.

You’ll be paid for your time and receive a membership with us as part of your role (hello, movement joy!).

There’s also scope to grow with us in future if it feels aligned.

At Udara, we don’t offer unpaid ‘karma yogi’ roles - and never will. We believe in honouring people’s work and their time. We’ll pay you for your contribution, so you can choose how to spend what you earn, just like any other job.

✨ Yoga schedule update✨

We’ve made a few thoughtful shifts to the yoga schedule, based on your feedback and what’s working best in the studio, as well as to support the amazing humans stepping into our space wanting to slow down, prioritise themselves and what their bodies and souls needs in this season.

Here’s what’s changed:

🌿 Tuesdays:
Sandy is now taking the 5.30pm Heated class (taught as Jivamukti), followed by a 7pm Yin (60 mins). Flow, rest or do both, and at a time for Yin that is more accessible for those of you heading home after work, or dealing with families or just ‘life’ and then coming back to look after yourselves.

🌕 Thursdays:
Claire brings her strong flows to 5.30pm Heated and a brand new 7pm Yoga Foundations (60 mins) class - a midweek opportunity for newer yogis or anyone wanting to come back to the foundations of the practice.

🌞 Saturdays:
Gabrielle is continuing with the 8.15am Heated followed by Yoga Foundations at 9.45am (75 mins) - a small time shift from the original 9.30am slot.

✨ Our superstar Foundations (and before that, Yin and Heated) teacher, Jaimee, is stepping away from teaching to focus on a full time role and family life, and we were so blessed to have had her steady practice and teachings since she arrived in Hobart just over a year ago. Thank you so much, Jaimee, we are so grateful. You will be missed!

We hope these updates help you find your rhythm. We have some changes and updates on the reformer side that we’ll share with you all soon, and some wonderful faces to welcome (and welcome back!), too.

We’re opening our doors for a day of movement, connection + good vibes in November. 💫

There will be free taster classes, light refreshments & beautiful community in our sanctuary in the city.

If you’ve never tried or are a little hesitant to come into a regular heated class, or want to try an absolute beginner reformer class, knowing you’ll be among others in the same boat - this is the perfect day to try.
We have intro to reformer and short reformer tasters on for you to try - plus our regular timetabled classes tag day.

💛 October is Plasma Awareness Month 💛
~ Honouring Jenna + Team Udara ~

Blood and plasma donation is close to our hearts at Udara, and this October (and beyond), we’re inviting our community to join us in supporting Lifeblood.

If you’ve moved with Jenna in a reformer class, you may know her story, but what you may not know is that Jenna lives with Von Willebrands Disease (a bleeding disorder, like haemophilia) and Hypermobile Spectrum Disorder - conditions that require medication made from plasma donations.

Reformer Pilates has been a powerful tool for Jenna - helping her manage joint instability and pain - and her teaching continues to inspire us. Last month, she led her 400th class and we love her body-positive approach to her teaching (and life). 🙏

In honour of Jenna, we’ve created Team Udara, our own Lifeblood donation team.

Some returns feel less like a new beginning, and more like a homecoming. 🖤

We’re overjoyed to welcome back Sandy (they/them) to the Udara timetable - a familiar and extraordinary presence to many, and a new spark of inspiration for those meeting them for the first time.

Sandy has been teaching yoga for 17 years and is a world-renowned yoga teacher trainer. As a Jivamukti Yoga teacher, their classes are a full-bodied experience… Sandy is passionate about teaching integrated yoga (not just āsana), through an inclusive lens, and their classes are woven around topics from yoga philosophy, supported by eclectic tunes, mantra, hands-on-assists and a sequence that both grounds and challenges you.

They bring a rare mix of depth, humour, and insight - and their classes are truly something special.

You’ll find Sandy back in our heated room at 6.30am Wednesdays, starting this week, and you will also see them covering other classes here and there.

To those who already know and love Sandy, you know this is very special. And to those who haven’t flowed with them before - you are in for an absolute treat. The walls of Udara are ready to welcome them like an old friend, and hold space for you, too. ✨

‘This is the yoga.’

A mentality that we see as resonating across both our modalities of yoga and reformer Pilates here at Udara.

We don’t know about you, but winter has felt pretty brutal for sickness for many in our community here in Hobart. For our members and for several of our teachers.

The season tends to bring changes - a teacher away, a new face guiding your class, having to go more gently with your practice after sickness or fatigue.

We know that we all have our favourite and familiar yoga + reformer teachers. Those who we feel like home with, who resonate so beautifully with our soul, and whose practice we are so in tune with.

It is magic, then, that this can be true AND we know that yoga itself is a spiritual practice of adaptability… of openness. One that is a gift to bring to any movement practice.

It’s about softening into what is, showing up even when it may look or feel different, and discovering, or re-discovering something new along the way. ✨

We know that those changes can feel tough, though; and our community has been just so wonderfully supportive when people are away, or spending time taking a break with their families, or recovering from sickness. Thank you for your adaptability, and understanding.

Next time you see your favourite teacher may be away, come along to class any way. A new teacher, a new rhythm, a fresh perspective may be on the other side of that small, but beautiful decision.

Our movement practice isn’t about sameness - it’s about presence, curiosity, and openness, no matter the modality.

We are so grateful to have the experience and knowledge of on the teacher’s mat here at Udara. Seeing experienced teachers go from being members to leading from the mat is such a privilege for us, especially after having Gabrielle with us for so many years.

Introducing... Mana Movement Studio

Formerly Fit Hot Yoga, Mana Movement Studio continues its 11 year history of providing heated and non-heated yoga to the people of Hobart, Tasmania. We offer classes seven days per week, with between 2-7 classes per day, weekends included and free child care Monday-Friday mornings between 9-11am. The original and still the best value for money studio in Hobart.

Keep an eye on our page for pilates and more meditation classes on the timetable.

We have simplified our memberships, with general membership for unlimited classes at less than $25 per week, direct debited and with no lock in periods after the first month. That’s right - you can cancel anytime. We also offer reduced price memberships for students, concession card holders and 200HR qualified yoga teachers.
