Have you ever wondered why resistance/weight training is so important when you have a weightloss goal?

Here are some of the big reasons

โœจ Increased calorie burn - while of course you burn calories while you are doing your circuit, with resistance training the calorie burn continues well after you stop. This can contribute to a significant calorie deficit which is necessary for fat loss.
Cardio on the other hand burns calories while you are doing it, but the calorie burn stops when your heart rate returns to normal. Still necessary for health, but not so much weight loss.

โœจ Increased metabolism - another big benefit is increasing your metabolism or BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). This is the amount of calories your body needs to survive. Muscle uses more energy to maintain than fat, so by building and maintaining lean muscle, you burn more calories, even when at rest.

โœจ Enhanced fat loss - Resistance training has been shown to directly enhance fat loss when combined with proper nutrition. As you gain muscle and increase your metabolism, your body becomes more efficient at burning that stored fat for energy.

And to top off those benefits resistance training can also improve your bone density, balance, muscle strength and mental health, while also reducing your chance of injury ๐Ÿ’ช

Mel previously worked in New Town as a beloved Personal Trainer before moving across to Rosny Park as the Customer Care Manager to get Rosny up and running.

Mel missed supporting all of our New Town members however so is coming back to New Town as the new Customer Care Manager!

Mel has been a Nutrition Coach and Personal Trainer for over 8 years and loves guiding, supporting and cheering our members towards their goals and lifestyle changes.
