Let’s get real, change is slow.
You can decide what to eat for breakfast in a split second, (even easier if you’ve done a bit of food prep) but not reacting to idiots takes years of practice.
That’s why I’m more focused on my path than my destination. I’ve got my trusty toolkit, advice, and I’m good to go.
My mood? Irrelevant.
I’m the captain of the Heather ship, and she’s a bit of a pain – easily distracted and often getting lost in her own little world. But she’s also got s***k.
So, I surround myself with positivity and make sure I get enough rest, good food, and time with my favourite people.

You don’t need to decide on your forever fitness goal today.
Fitness evolves. We change. Some years are more resilience building, challenging. Others have patches where the planets align.
The only constant is change, the only thing we can do is choose what our best looks like.

Trilogy 2 . An incredible day out. There were some key takeaways for me personally but most importantly, what an amazing community!
Such a vibrant mix of individuals. I’m reminded of the power of supporting and being supported. To the energetic supporters, spotters, refs, organizers, coaches, athletes, food providers, and MCs - I love it when we unite and elevate each other for the greater good.

A few days before comp, and I trust the process and I’m ready for the best on the day.
I’m not going to give AirPlay to any challenges!

What happens at one point in time doesn’t make or break us!
It’s the sum of thousands of choices, behaviours, our mindset and action that makes us who we are. And neuroplasticity allows us to create the version of us we want.
We don’t need to be stuck as a version that no longer suits us.
The last 12 month has challenged me, by choice. I’ve stepped up and competed.
Fully immersed in the experience - costume, chalk, grunting. I’m not done yet either, especially because training leaches in to every part of my life. I’m more resilient, happier in my skin and definitely stronger.
We Dan do hard things.

Over the years, I have had the privilege of massaging everyone from weekend warriors to full time athletes. It was always about keeping active people active!
Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. I have treasured their stories, shared their setbacks and glory through their story telling. It has filled me with such joy.
In recent time I have experienced a taste of the sacrifice. Another weekend I’m not frolicking in the ocean with my husband because I’m training on the weekend, another night without the wine or gin I so enjoy, bed by 9.30 to sleep. Choosing protein over pizza. Another weekend where ACe trains with me, (even if he has gone to work at our Retreat) because he chooses to come home early.
I don’t regret exploring these new things, I don’t regret learning restraint and prioritising my health and strength. Thank you you all the athletes, friends and (extra)ordinary people who made this all feel so normal and achievable!!

My head is spinning !!
Whilst I have been strength training for a number of years, I only did my first novice comp in June 2025, I was looking for something to train for in the middle of the year, so I started in earnest on January 1, my first destination was unknown.
was holding a novice event on June 14 and I needed to add several cms to my squat depth before then. I had a great day and felt very encouraged.strength had a comp on July 26, why not have another go? Again, a great group of people.
It was time to put on my big girl pants, and plan for my first sanctioned comp, I met with Jeremy and talked about a few hurdles and I was sold and committed to a September comp. It would be a big deal, I’d need a suit and a fancier belt!!
(An opportunity to spend)
I was excited and committed, but soon after my decision Bench Nationals were announced. It would be held , it would be rude not to have a go as it was so local BUT the September comp I had registered for was a week too late for me to qualify.
Instead, it would need to all come together in Early August at the Tassie Cup!
Squat to depth, a good bench and a deadlift.
Why not explore ?

I felt pretty undercooked but was reassured and encouraged!
It was a heap of fun and many familiar faces.
I did pretty well (second overall in the women)
I qualified for Bench Nationals.
Bench Nationals was a BIG step up !
I met some awesome lifters, old friends and all round great people.
Everyone was pushing hard, everyone was kind.
Well, I could keep dragging you through my story but the long story short is we are going to Warsaw and I’m competing at 2026 IPF Bench Worlds !
I’ll wear green and gold.
This is not about weights! It’s about community, work, exploring capabilities and backing yourself. It’s about the right team and a great coach.
It’s about living life!

Valentine’s Day, like most things in life, are what you make of them.
I chose to cut my strawberry into a heart using my knife, train in my strawberry shorts and kiss .

Once upon a time a young freshly trained Remedial Massage Therapist started a business, she had no business experience or mentor but she was passionate.
She took every opportunity even if it scared her! She volunteered a lot to support her community, she even taught massage.
Her business grew quickly into a full time job. She never had to drag herself into work.
She met many many fantastic people.
She is a a bit older now, she is stronger and just as keen as when she was young.
She now works .
You’ll find her there Mon, Tue and Friday.
She welcomes old and new friends.

2025
The thing about life is sometimes we have to hold delight and satisfaction with disappointment.
In the moment, it can be hard to process the magnitude of a situation, assess what was realistic.
But by allowing time to reflect, process and plan….
I’m happy, deeply happy, the journey was full of lessons.
I have lots more to learn. I have more to show.
But for now, I’m really satisfied.
And really excited.
Bring it on! (Whatever it is)

Lately it’s been busy.
Busy isn’t bad but forgetting to pause can be.
Today’s lesson is brought to you by the birds and the bees, native ones at that!
