My journey with bench press began with an urgent need o transform my life’s trajectory. The aspiration to be a strong and independent woman, an active Glamma, while being fun and inspiring, became my guiding force. I aimed to be the qualities my granddaughters would require to thrive in today’s complex yet wonderful world. Under the guidance of my coach, Priscus , a tailored path was created, emphasizing compound movements characteristic of powerlifting. Gradually, I developed strength, flexibility, and more crucially, my overall well-being improved, marked by better eating habits, sleep, boundaries, and awareness. Now, I’m older, stronger, wiser, and happier than I envisioned. My blood sugar levels are well-managed, bones are robust, and life is fulfilling. This decision has been one of the most rewarding ones I have made !!
And, as an aside, I’ve met lots of very inspiring people!

Experiences shape us, upbringing molds us, and self-talk defines us - like threads in a tapestry. Realizing this later in life, in my 50s, has been a game-changer. We can evolve into the version we want, not just the one circumstances dictate. Often, we're just trying to survive, and setting goals can feel daunting. Yet, striving for something big has transformed me. I'm on the cusp of something huge and I'm beyond excited. Don't let age define your visibility - keep pushing forward, for yourself and those who matter. Surround yourself with growth-oriented people. I'm grateful for my job, amazing conversations, cool friends, and supportive family. I've caught a glimpse of 'flow' and I'm eager to dive back in!

What a year!
Working on friend and family relationships, being in nature including a local Tiger Snake!
My first novice powerlifting comp, working hard on squat depth for a sanctioned competition with a fancy belt and sexy suit ta boot.
Qualifying for Bench Nationals and then World Bench press !
Changing old paradigms and trying to stay young and strong without loosing my mind!

The road to Poland 2026!
Today I trained at a different gym.
was the plan today!
Lovely Ruby gave me her time and expertise which was worth so much more than her weight in gold.
Every experience gives us an opportunity to learn and grow!
This morning was a great positive experience and I got to play with cool equipment as a bonus!

As the excitement mounts for my first International sporting event, I realise that despite quality training, good nutrition and a sprinkle of sports psychology, maybe my rest and recovery has been a little lacking. Rest and recover despite being essential, can be pretty confusing. As a beginner to this sport, I’m still learning but I know that regular sauna before Bench Nationals really helped.
So back to we go!

About 5 to 10 years ago, many of my posts were what I had eaten or the wine I had.
Whilst I still post coffee content, I wanted to be aligned with strength more than indulgence, so I changed my focus.
Then I changed my behaviour.
You have to be it until you are it.
Now I think I’ve made the change for good, what do you think?

“I’ve loved seven other women and they all were you”.
Discovering who you are and more importantly who you want to be takes decades.
Like a badly knitted jumper, first we must notice the flaws, before we can begin the slow unpick, carefully assessing paradigms and conditioning before adding our own threads.
Every time I think I know, I realise I actually have no clue.
I’m very lucky to have really top people in my world, if you are one of them, I hope I told you this week!!

Mondays are even better when I can share them with my life partner!
We train together without killing each other!
I get pretty bossy but I justify this with having a plan!
We laugh a lot too!

Even though my third goal is a bench pb, I am mindful of my first two goals!
🔸1. Get stronger and more mobile.
🔸2. Get out of my comfort zone
That means I can’t cherry pick my favourite activities!
I trust the process.
I trust Coach
I’ve witnessed so much improvement!
Now to maintain momentum.
