My head is spinning !!
Whilst I have been strength training for a number of years, I only did my first novice comp in June 2025, I was looking for something to train for in the middle of the year, so I started in earnest on January 1, my first destination was unknown.
was holding a novice event on June 14 and I needed to add several cms to my squat depth before then. I had a great day and felt very encouraged.strength had a comp on July 26, why not have another go? Again, a great group of people.
It was time to put on my big girl pants, and plan for my first sanctioned comp, I met with Jeremy and talked about a few hurdles and I was sold and committed to a September comp. It would be a big deal, I’d need a suit and a fancier belt!!
(An opportunity to spend)
I was excited and committed, but soon after my decision Bench Nationals were announced. It would be held , it would be rude not to have a go as it was so local BUT the September comp I had registered for was a week too late for me to qualify.
Instead, it would need to all come together in Early August at the Tassie Cup!
Squat to depth, a good bench and a deadlift.
Why not explore ?
I felt pretty undercooked but was reassured and encouraged!
It was a heap of fun and many familiar faces.
I did pretty well (second overall in the women)
I qualified for Bench Nationals.
Bench Nationals was a BIG step up !
I met some awesome lifters, old friends and all round great people.
Everyone was pushing hard, everyone was kind.
Well, I could keep dragging you through my story but the long story short is we are going to Warsaw and I’m competing at 2026 IPF Bench Worlds !
I’ll wear green and gold.
This is not about weights! It’s about community, work, exploring capabilities and backing yourself. It’s about the right team and a great coach.
It’s about living life!
