How ElivPro Is Redefining Inclusive Education in Tasmania?

When I founded Eliv Enterprises back in 2017, it was just a small side project, sparked by a deep frustration with training systems that left too many people behind.

With a background in behavioural science, adult education, forensic mental health, and disability, I saw the same story playing out in classrooms, workplaces, and community services: smart, capable people disengaging, not because they lacked potential, but because the learning wasn’t built for them. It wasn’t inclusive. It wasn’t practical. It wasn’t engaging, and it didn’t reflect the realities of the people it was meant to serve.

Fast forward to the 2024/25 financial year, and Eliv has transformed into a full-time consultancy, experiencing 2,000% growth and expanding its reach across government and community sectors.

One of Eliv’s most impactful projects so far has been the development of 16 Life Skills modules for the Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP). These modules, covering essentials like Medicare, superannuation, renting, and job-seeking, are now being used in schools across Tasmania.

They’re helping young people build the confidence, clarity, and capability to navigate real-world challenges. And most importantly, they’re being delivered in a way that’s accessible, inclusive, engaging and empowering.

Building on that success, I’m currently developing a second suite of 12 Life Skills modules, this time focused on social and emotional wellbeing. These resources will help young people develop skills like self-awareness, emotional regulation, resilience, and healthy relationships—so they can thrive not only in school, but in life.

I've learned that Eliv’s growth hasn’t just been about training—it’s been about transformation. From students navigating life for the first time, to teachers in rural classrooms doing their best with limited resources, to frontline staff supporting those most at risk, Eliv creates inclusive and accessible learning solutions that work for real people in real workplaces.

The biggest lesson?

When education is designed to include, not exclude, it becomes more than information. It becomes a tool for equity, empowerment, and real-world change.

Want to create something incredible together?
If you’re part of a government, education or community organisation that wants to embed inclusive learning into your programs, I’d love to connect.

When it comes to recovery and reintegration, someone once asked me what I felt was the missing piece of the puzzle.

My answer? Hope.

So many prisoners feel like their mistakes define them, like they’re trapped in a cycle they’ll never escape. Without hope, there’s no reason to try, no belief that life could ever be different. Then there is stigma. Society often sees them only as their worst moment, making it hard for them to believe they can be anything more.

But here’s the thing: hope changes everything. It might come from an opportunity to learn something new, a second chance, or even just one person who believes in their potential. That’s all it takes to ignite change. Hope isn’t just a feeling—it’s a spark. And with that spark, people can start to rebuild, to grow, and to create a better future.

When we think about crime, we often ask, ‘What’s wrong with this person?’ But the real question is, ‘What happened to them?’ So many prisoners carry deep, unaddressed 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮—childhood abuse, violence, neglect. Trauma doesn’t excuse crime, but it helps us understand it. When we address that pain through rehabilitation, we’re not just helping the individual—we’re breaking cycles of crime that impact families and communities. By addressing the pain that fuels criminal behaviour, we not only reduce reoffending but also foster safer, healthier societies. Trauma may start the cycle, but healing ends it.

When someone goes to prison, their family serves time too. Parents, partners, and children often face shame, financial struggles, and emotional pain. The separation can strain relationships, sometimes beyond repair.

But families can also be a powerful force for change. Rehabilitation is most effective when it includes the family, helping to rebuild trust and create healthier connections. Supporting loved ones through the process strengthens bonds and gives prisoners something to work toward—a reason to stay on the path of growth. A strong family network can be the foundation for a fresh start, turning a painful chapter into a hopeful future.

Reflecting on my time working with people in prison, I learned they are incredibly creative and resourceful. Whether it’s through art or problem-solving, they often find ways to build something from nothing, using whatever they have at hand.

Creativity and resourcefulness are strengths, even if they haven’t always been used in positive ways. For many prisoners, creativity is more than a skill; it’s a survival tool. It helps them process emotions, adapt to challenges, and find ways to cope with difficult circumstances. This ingenuity demonstrates their resilience and potential to think outside the box, even in the most restrictive environments.

By tapping into and nurturing their creativity, we’re not just helping individuals to heal and grow—we’re also equipping them with skills to rebuild their lives, contribute meaningfully to society, and break cycles of crime. Creativity, when guided in the right direction, becomes a powerful catalyst for transformation.

𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀

Lesson 1. Treating someone with respect and dignity can change everything.

Regardless of the person's background, choices, or struggles, It costs nothing to listen without judgment, offer a kind word, or show basic decency—but the impact can be life-changing.

Respect encourages collaboration, defuses conflict, and fosters mutual understanding - all essential elements for effective rehabilitation and reintegration.

Dignity, on the other hand, reminds us to value humanity in every interaction, even when opinions differ. Sometimes, simple recognition is the spark for transformation.

Stay tuned for more insights!
