You need to know this...
1️⃣ The pelvic floor needs to be strengthened at the same time as the other core muscles.
2️⃣ The best person to get you started with this is the Physio who actually checked your pelvic floor and knows its strengths and weaknesses. Muscles need balance.
3️⃣ Your upper body needs to be included in core rehab programs because your torso is a pressure system that needs support across the whole cylinder.
4️⃣ Limited shoulder function prevents ribs from rotating, which is a function we need to simply walk.and run well.
5️⃣ Your foot position through exercise is an important factor for hip and therefore pelvic floor function.
If you are rehabbing your core and need some advice, feel free to call us or book online at www.alarawomenshealth.com.au

Did you know that 50% of women have a prolapse after a va**nal birth. These prolapses may be obvious at the time of your birth or become more obvious during perimenopause.
Your prolapse can be managed with the support of a Women's Health Physiotherapist.
You may also need to consider a pessary as a choice to support your organs during a strength gaining period or a long term choice.

We can help.
🌸 Tara, Olivia and Angela
Consider your options...

💍 Ring pessary:
The most easiest to use and most common. You can put it in and out yourself.
It sits behind your p***c bone and up towards the back wall of your va**na. It helps to lift the uterus and bladder like a bra.
It is useful for daily function and sport for a short-term solution or a long-term solution.
🎲 Cube pessary:
This is also a popular choice as it is still a self managed pessary.
The Cube can be a winner as it provides strong support to the va**nal walls and pr*****ed organs, making it effective for various types of prolapse, including uterine, bladder (cystocele), and re**al (rectocele) prolapse.

📯 Gellhorn pessary:
The Gellhorn is generally the pessary of choice for more advanced-stage prolapse or in a patient who is no longer sexually active.
Removal and insertion of this pessary is more difficult and, therefore, can not be done by the patient.
The concave disc is a space fillong de ice that suctions to the va**na for support.

🪩 Shaatz pessary: This is a disc-shaped pessary that is similar to the Gellhorn pessary, but without the stem.
This device can be chosen for a woman who needs support but would still like to be sexually active.
This pessary needs to be managed by your WH Physio or Gynecologist.

If it's pulling, creating pain, or even if it's numb, it needs change.
Our Physiotherapists (Jen, Tara, Maddie, Angela) and Massage Therapist (Ali and Hannah) have all trained in scar remediation.
It's not just circling and rolling the skin. It is making actual change to the collagen within the wound to soften it and reduce the adhesions that are created during the wound healing process.
We work on patients who have had c-section, episiotomies, breast surgery, hip replacements, knee replacements, acne, and all the other scars on your body.
Change is possible. Thanks to the work of .scar.release

There are things that you can tell about a body just by looking at them.
Having a health spine means better movement, better core strength, and less injury risk.
Just sayin'

What is the definition of a "core"?
It is the central or most important part of something!
How does this relate when we discuss the core of the body?
If you google the muslces of the core, there is not one answer. No wonder there is confusion about it.
What are your thoughts? Have we missed the point?

We are trained in 'Modern Cupping' @ Alara Women's Health.
Modern cupping is a therapy that uses suction cups to lift the tissue into the cup and create a release. The cup can sit in one spot or move across the tissue to loosen the muscles, encourage blood flow and stretch and release fascia. The release of the tissues allows for better nerve function, and the increased blood flow allows for a reduction of inflammation.
Our Physiotherapists use cupping in the areas of need as part of a treatment plan that will include movement prescription.
Our massage therapists use cupping for a more full body release for pain relief, relaxation and stress reduction, improved circulation, and lymphatic drainage.
Book online if you are keen to feel this amazing technique.

Endometriosis is a challenging condition for many women, causing significant pain and discomfort.
Women suffering from this condition need a team of professionals that can work with them on different levels of need... Physiotherapy (both in clinic and exercise education) can be more effective when working alongside acupuncturists and dieticians | nutritionists | natropaths.

A growing body of research is examining the effectiveness of Chinese medicine in treating endometriosis. Reviews and trials have assessed the impact of acupuncture on pain reduction, ovarian function, recurrence rates, and pregnancy rates. The initial findings show promise in enhancing overall well-being for individuals with endometriosis.

Acupuncture, combined with usual care, has shown remarkable potential in reducing pelvic pain associated with endometriosis. A study involving 30 women aged 18-45, diagnosed with endometriosis, demonstrated significant pain reduction after twice-weekly acupuncture sessions for eight weeks. The acupuncture group experienced a 42% reduction in pelvic pain, surpassing the minimum clinically important difference threshold. In contrast, the usual care group experienced a 6% increase in pelvic pain over the same period.

While the research shows promising outcomes, further investigations and clinical trials are essential to unlock the full potential of Chinese medicine and acupuncture in treating endometriosis.

Dry needling is a term used when a practitioner uses acupuncture needles to make changes to the tissues at the point of insertion and surrounding muscle.
Its purpose is to stimulate a healing response where there is muscle spasm, inflammation, and pain in a specific area.
The insertion of the needle is believed to soften the muscles and possibly fascia, therefore allowing better blood flow to reduce inflammation and increase the range of movement of the effected areas.
The insertion of the needle is also thought to stimulate the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals in the body.
Dry needling is a technique used by our physiotherapists at Alara in conjunction with soft tissue release, exercise prescription, and education to help you be pain-free and functional.
